Toward the Terra – 20

Interesting, yet another episode without Jomie. This one basically is the calm-before-the-storm episode, and its major purpose is to bring Keith to Terra with an army that can beat the Myu. He’s turned into quite a celebrity, by the way, and he now really is one of the highest ranked officials out there. What’s interesting is Grand Mother’s interference. Am I the only one who thinks that she’s a bit too keen on helping Keith? I mean, she basically used her power to overrule any objection against Keith’s proposal of wiping out the Moby Dick. The eye she shows while doing that suggests that she actually has a human form. Is that in the same way as Mother Eliza, or is she a real woman, who controls everything behind the scenes? Anyway, people have managed to make a weapon that can break through the shields of the Myu, and they’ve been testing them throughout the episode. Tony and his companions are going to have to face them, so the odds are starting to move against them. And what about Matsuka? I mean, his secret will come out, that’s inevitable. What’ll happen to him and Keith after this? An interesting twist came when the episode started focusing at the girl we saw in the previous episode. I first thought that she was Swena’s daughter, but she turns out to be the new child of Jomie’s parents. I loved it when they started to compare humans and Myu with wolves and rabbits. Interestingly enough, the girl yet again turned out to be a Myu. The question remains: how will they contribute in the finale?]]>

  1. Isn’t that red-head girl Swena’s daughter originally? I thought she explained that because she got a divorce, she can’t raise a child anymore and the child’s memory is wiped out and given to new parents.

  2. In the manga, Keith actually threatens the other Members’ Elites, by saying he would get Grandmother to give the order if they wouldn’t take it from him. But it’s not about destroying the Shangri La; it’s because Keith wants to have every single human undergo a psion check. Or at least, even though I don’t understand the raw much, that’s how it went in the manga. The others were opposed to this because it would include them, too, and Keith, for that matter. Keith is actually much more forceful on the matter in the manga, even going so far as to say that if his own psion check were to reveal that he has Mu elements, he would accept the consequences.
In the manga, after that meeting, Matsuka tells Keith telepathically that he shouldn’t have spoken to them that way, because he’s only putting everyone’s backs up against him. Keith’s reaction is angry. Later, a man gives Keith a poisoned drink, but Matsuka telepathically tells him not to drink it.

  3. They treated Mu like a contagious disease instead of a natural evolution of their species. I’m thinking what if eventually every children are tested Mu positive, will they kill off themselves?
It appears that Keith cares the most about Sam above anyone. Is it possible for Jomy to extend Sam’s life and stop the war that way?
And finally, I thought it’s funny how there’s a Grandmother after Mother Eliza. I wonder if there’s a grand-grand mother sitting above grandmother. Or who is in control of grandmother if she’s an AI? Or who actually is grandmother like you said.

  4. If Keith believed that the Mu were truly evil, he would kill Matsuka. No sane person would live with something they felt was evil and needed to be destroyed.
This raises and interesting point because Keith seems to view himself as a monster of a different kind, and Matsuka did say he seemed to be rushing to his death. Is Keith on a vendetta trip for Sam? That would just be so …juvenile and petty…
It also makes me wonder if Grandmother isn’t planning her own demise. I still wouldn’t be surprised if Keith is planning something.
And boy, who expected Jomy’s mom and pop to steal the episode? They almost stole the episode!

  5. you have a nice blog here. i’ve been reading your toward the terra posts especially the ones about the episodes i weren’t able to watch. thanks for the toward the terra summaries.
i’m sure they showed leticia (the pink-haired girl) with jomy’s parents in the previous episode. swena was watching them at the park and she also showed leticia to jomy.
yeah leticia is really smart. i guess the humans are the wolves in this case as they even try to exterminate the mu even if they aren’t doing any harm. mu are the rabbits as they just want to live peacefully with the others.
i think keith only keeps matsuka so he can use him. well that’s what i think. he loathes the other mu but he keeps matsuka. but why is matsuka even helping keith in the first place if keith treats him as a monster? hmm probably because he would easily get caught if he left keith’s side.

  6. I think that what Matsuka wants is recognition. Keith was nice enough not to blow his secret, and I think that he became attached to Keith in that way. Keith, however, treats him like garbage, and I think that Matsuka wants to show him that he’s more than just that.

  7. I knew Leticia would turn out to be a Myu!!! It’s so great that Jomy’s parents know how to protect their children now. I just hope they’re not shot down or anything.
And poor Matsuka! Keith is just too mean to him, but honestly, I’m sure the guy has a soft spot for him.
Anyhow, I hope Artella doesn’t die while protecting Tony in the next ep…the preview was sorta hinting at that.

  8. I’m loving this show. Keith is such an interesting character. I don’t know if I hate him or like him. I think it changes from week to week.
