Some Really Quick First Impressions

And here is a collection of really quick impressions for the shows that I really can’t be arsed to really write much about.

Dragonar: random harem crap with a nonsensical premise.

Mangaka-san to Assistant-kun: this is just crap. The lengths that creators go to to get girls to grope themselves. I especially hate how the creators treat it like it’s the most normal thing to do.

Daimidaler: this show… it’s by far the single worst show of the season. Dear god, did I actually see this show that completely and unashamedly glorifies groping every single women you lay your eyes on? Seriously Japan? Fanservice is one thing, but this show actually promotes sexual harrassment

Kamigami no Asobi: Those male transformation sequences… And oh my god, these bishies are so pretty that flowers spontaneously bloom in their vicinities. I know that this show uses existing tropes and all, but the way in which it carries them further than everreaches the point where it looks so bad that it becomes funny. And OH MY GOD THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A PINK FLUFFY PEGASUS. Yeah, definitely so bad it’s hilarious territory, although that won’t last beyond one episode.

Brynhildr‘s main character is so impulsive that he has no control over his actions and can’t even wait for a bit while checking out a girl who resembles a girl he knew ten years ago. Could have had potential, but I got turned off by the fanservice, awkward acting and the school setting. The OP’s good though.

Kanojo ga Flaw wo Orareta‘s lead has the same problem as Brylhildr (seriously have some creativity dammit!), but at least she’s aware of her own actions. This show is a lot weirder than what I thought it would be. This show plays with irony, but it’s laying it on really heavy here. This feels like a worse version of Noucome.

Soul Eater Not: What have they done to you?! It’s so generic! Everything here is blatantly uninspired and bland! What did Soul Eater ever do to deserve this?

    1. Pretty much this. . .

Is it bad that this season I only really see one show as watchable so far? (Mushishi) There’s no game no life that seems interesting. . .I’m just NOT feeling that pedophilia-incest otaku pandering bullshit in the supporting character (little sister)

  1. Brynhildr is not actually set in school. The school setting does not last particularly long (it should be gone by the end of next week) so the ‘mysterious transfer girl’ trope doesn’t last that long. If anything the author is just playing with the audience.

Personally I was quite happy with how Brynhildr was. And as for the fanservice .. I assume you mean the pool scene. It wasn’t that long and I think you’re just getting too sensitive about that sort of thing.

  2. I actually could see Daimdaler and Mangaka-san working if they had been executed better. But the problem is that for all their audacity, they refuse to actually “go there”. Needed to be more wrong.

  3. Yeah I’ve got to defend Brynhildr here, looks interesting. Only a few shows that look watchable this season, I’m putting my money on Byrnhildr being one of them.

  4. I actually liked Soul Eater Not!. Sure, the art style has been completely lobotomized, but the writing style is still noticeably the same.

  5. I really think kamigami no asobi is going to come out of left field and expose that this isn’t actually a female harem, but a show about gays fighting crime.

  6. I personally enjoyed Soul Eater NOT. It may not be up to snuff in comparison to the original Soul Eater, but I like that we’re able to explore more aspects of the world through characters that would be considered a bit more normal than the ones we’ve come to know. Don’t really care for anything else on this list.

  7. Daimidaler was so awful and autistic that it transcended the spectrum and actually became good imo.
    It’s like The Room.

    1. Okay. Autistic? You’re describing that piece of trash as autistic? You do know the word doesn’t apply to art forms but people who have a neurological disability, right?

  8. Daimidaler is pretty good if you view it as a ridiculous retro trash. It’s just that some people enjoy films like “Attack of the killer tomatoes” and some do not. Also if I to commend something about this show, the mecha design is pretty interesting and old-fashioned.

    1. I don’t mind if it was going for the retro trash direction, I can also get behind that. What really got me was how it was completely glorifying the way in which the male lead grabbed every single boob he saw as if it was completely normal and cool to do that.

      1. Haha kinda agree with you about the groping part, but since the premise is built around it (it’s on the summary anyway) I think I can swallow that.
If you ignore the groping part, it’s actually quite funny.

  9. Soul Eater NOT makes me feel like I’am facing a old friend as an enemy. Ok, he might not have been the most intellectual in my social circle but he had his own style and he was well aware of his own special identity.

And now some asshole has revived him into a zombie and I have to face his dead and sad cadaver. With only a crowbar and the knowlegde that my friend deserved a more dignified passing than this. Fuck.
