Some Quick First Impressions: Recorder to Randsell Re, Naruto SD – Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden and Queens Blade Rebellion

Recorder to Randsell Re

Short Synopsis: Our lead character stands out.
So, time to check back on how this series turned out. And my impression of this series has gone down even more. We’re supposed to be 14 episodes into the series already, and all this episode did was re-establish the premise of this show: having a very tall younger brother and a very tiny younger sister. What happened in the previous episodes, really? This felt like watching the first episode all over again. There doesn’t seem like any progress was made at all. I know that the episodes are only 2 minutes long and all, but this is a bit too extreme. On top of that, I like my comedies to be well acted. This was the entire opposite of that. Especially the brother was hard to watch.
ED: Dull song. And why the sudden fanservice?

Naruto SD – Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden

Short Synopsis: Our lead character is a bad Naruto fanfic character.
Oh god… make it stop. One of the hardest types of episodes to sit through with these kinds of first impressions is the bad comedy. I mean, Queen’s Blade was terrible, but it still was kindof bearable due to how bad it was. Naruto SD however, is a series that fails miserably at being entertaining. This was 25 minutes of sitting through horrible jokes. Over and over again. The creators of this series have no idea how to tell good jokes. More often than not we just have Rock Lee act random for no discernible reason, it keeps repeating its bad jokes over and over, and this show thrives on making random toilet jokes that fail at being funny. The characters are all incredibly annoying and probably the only value this holds is for diehard fans of the Naruto franchise. And yet for some inexplicable reason this show finds it necessary to explain the basic premise of this show over and over again.
OP: Cheesy J-Rock
ED: Also dull aside from the random dancing.
Potential: 0%

Queens Blade Rebellion

Short Synopsis: Our lead character boobs.
Look. I’m not against all fanservice. In fact, the series I’m looking forward to the most this season will probably have tons of it as well. However, what I can’t stand are the series who use it as an excuse for being terrible. It really is a shame that pasting a bunch of boobs everywhere guarantees dvd sales like this. This episode was by far the worst first episode I had to watch this season so far. The action was terribly choreographed and made no sense. And really: I don’t care how many famous voice actors you got for this show; the acting still is abysmal. Oh, and I have to congratulate this series, for pulling the dumbest twist I have ever seen while sampling these first episodes. Really: imagine a girl with big boobs (clearly visible) in a short skirt and very long coloured hair. It takes until the armor around her boobs breaks for everyone to realize her gender. I… have no idea. In more than six years of blogging, I have never seen stupidity this big.
ED: Poorly produced J-Rock song. Not to mention the terrible visuals.

  1. You should have just replaced every other word in the review with “boobs” and then given it a potential of “b00bs%”

  2. In fact, the series I’m looking forward to the most this season will probably have tons of it as well.

? Could you be talking about Total Eclipse? Btw, I don’t know enough about the novels to truly recommend it but I do hope you wind up blogging it. I’m not sure yet whether to watch it or not so I hope to use you as a safety buffer. I’m still suffering residual trauma from the original Muv-luv Alternative, which gave me new meaning to the term “gut-shot”. XD

Gotta warn you that it’s quite mecha heavy though. Are you into that sort of thing? One of the main partners of this project used Total Eclipse as a platform for some of their cutting edge designs. I think they were responsible for one of the most interesting alternative designs of a Gundam I’ve ever seen: Gundam Sentinel, so I’m curious about how their Muv-luv Alter designs will come out.

Really: imagine a girl with big boobs (clearly visible) in a short skirt and very long coloured hair. It takes until the armor around her boobs breaks for everyone to realize her gender.

ROTFL. This I gotta see. I wonder if we’ll see parodies of this in upcoming comedy sequels like Danshi Kokosei. I do agree that the plot sometimes leaves much to be desired but I do like the works of some of the QB artists like Rin-Sin and Eiwa.

    1. I don’t think that that airs this season. No, I was referring to a certain remake of a certain classic instead.

      1. Remake of a classic…with fanservice….this season. I’m more stumped than ever. The only thing that looks like a remake of a classic this season seems to be Zetman but it doesn’t look like it’s got fanservice. Well, I’m still not sure what all the shows airing this season actually are yet. I’ll think about it some more.

        1. Eureka Ao is a sequel..right? Not a remake? And, while Taiho is pretty hot, I don’t remember Eureka Seven, or actually any Bones series for that matter, for much fanservice. Hmmm….=.=

          1. Mmmm…Fujiko-chan…

Ok. THAT one completely slipped under the radar. XD Looking forward to it.

            I wonder who’s performing as Lupin now…

    1. Oh god…I really should watch an episode of this sometimes, watch it as comedy…so stupid it’s good?

    2. I think she’s supposed to be the QB version of Pirates of the Carribean’s Davy Jones. She’s got starfish over um…. strategic parts of her body.

Don’t ask me how I know that.

      1. Man, meow that just… cracked me up and people are looking at me like I’m some kind of pervert. I guess I am because I’m fuckin’ commenting on Queen’s Blade.

  3. How does the girl in the screencap keep from falling over or breaking her back? Boobs = fat = heavy. >_>

Yeah, one series I won’t be checking out then. ^^

  4. As much i agree with your opinion, and the majority of the posters opinion, i will like to add that this type of show give great income to the studios, therefore with this money they can create the great anime we love so much, so for that iam thankfull for this kind of anime and the people who supported, because in the end it is supporting other types of animes as well.

    1. If they’d actually do that, then yeah. However, this is Arms. They have been making nothing but crappy fanservice shows over and over now.

      1. Yes is true 8D, but one can hope once they get a great amount of money they will invest in great series, iam an optimistic person, but really i understand and agree with you.

Alos i will like to add, that this type fo series alos helps the R1 distribution, i mean media blasters have the rights in the U.S, if they sell good with this series maybe they will be picking one good series down the line, altough they are in dire state, but funimation and sentai most of the time pick series like this one just to afford greater and for that reason more expensive series, like shiki and book of bantorra, and thats what i did try to say that this type of show, one way or in other way, helps a little bit the anime industry in all their sections.

      2. Wow i didn’t even realize that almost everything Arms does is hentai. And the couple of non hentai they have done like Elfen Lied and This one have insane fanservice.

How did you do watch this psgels? I saw the very first episode of the first season , same with Qwaser , and i’m so frightened i can’t be bother to check them out when the sequels air.

  5. I knew it! Fujiko anime is the series you’re looking for to the most this season. Heck! It will have Sayo Yamamoto as director! *O* Michiko e Hatchin was “one of a kind” series, really great.

  6. Hn…While recorder&Randsell is certainly not going anywhere, I don’t hear your problem with the brother’s actor. It’s clearly not intended to be realistic and he’s an older actor.

  7. Queen’s Blade? Terrible? I THINK NOT SIR!

The first 2 seasons were completely stupid in regards to fanservice, and that’s why they were awesome. Not only that, but the writing in the second season actually got pretty good and made for an enjoyable story.

Queen’s Blade kicks ass, but I refuse to watch anything until Mysterious Girlfriend X, aka the best manga ever written, is streamed somewhere.
