Okay. That ending was awesome.
As for the climax itself, the first half of this episode was a bit dull, in which the creators pulled the usual twists that you’d expect at the end of a series. Panty loses her powers but gets them back after having sex with Brief, it was a bit too standard, although the farming scenes were really entertaining. The second half though had some very neat action scenes that really were worthy of this series’ finale. There was a ton of neat animation going on on a really epic scale, and the final twist was just completely bizarre, and yet worked really well.
I love the guts of this series with its ending, though. For one, Garterbelt’s revival scenes were hilarious (“GOD MY OOOOOHHHHHH!!!”), but the way it lead into its potential second season with Stocking’s complete and sudden betrayal was a really neat and nonsensical twist. Now, as for that second season however I do want to say this: there has been a series in the past that pulled a very similar twist right at its final episode. I refuse to spoil which one for obvious reasons, but despite so obviously pointing to a sequel the director later stated in an interview that that was never going to come. Also, that premise of that second season has to be pretty bizarre: “Brief and Chuck with Garterbelt”. Would that even work?
So let’s just wait for any official announcements. If there is going to be a second season, I’ll probably end up blogging it. The main reason why I didn’t blog this entire season was because of the mediocre episodes 2, 3 and 4. After that though, this series took some really neat advantages of its format with a ton of neat and experimental segments.

I really loved this series and will hate to see it go. The ending was fantastic and I hope there is a second season.
If there is a second season, I think it will be based around Scanty, Kneesocks and Fastener. I mean, they were at the church at the end with Garter, Brief and Chuck. I would love to see them “develop” a bit more like Panty and Stocking did.

This episode made my night. When Stocking suddenly did that, it was just crazy, and then the second season allusion sealed it! As I think about it though, a second season does seem kind of out there… But I loved this show and would like to see it continue, however odd the plot may be. Hopefully it would at least work its way up to this series’ amazing-ness.
I’m really curious what other series did that, though? I feel like I should know what it is, but… I’m drawing blanks.
Oh, yeah, I got an assumption of what the other series you’re talking about.And as that serie took bloody long time to have a “second season” (or maybe just a CG retelling of the original season, I think it would be safe to assume that this season 2 hook is just Gainax trolling with us. Again, what else do you expect from that crazy studio and a glommy loli that looks too much like Bernskatel?
if there is a second season, getting scanty and kneesocks into it seems very ineteresting doesnt it? also an aweosme ending with the “mama” thing, not only showing god a s a woman, but showing god in dessous is really something and takes it one step wider than dogma did.
as for cher, stocking may look a bit like bern, but shes absoolutely no loli^^
i suspect that either something in heaven changed her, or she didnt even get ther ebut was sucked soemwhere else at thta rtime. why else should she come back? or maybe possessed or whatever. oh, and the chuck thing was great.
Odds are shes just been possessed by Corset and it will be quickly back to the status quo.
There were some nice twists but I found the final episode amongst the weakest.
