In terms of television series, Madhouse is currently having its worst season out of all of the seasons that I’ve been blogging, so thankfully Black Lagoon delivers one bright point for them this way. This episode was all about building up, but it did this really well.
Basically we had half an hour of dialogue, leading up to the inevitable clash between Roberta and the US Army, which will probably start on either episode 4 or 5. This episode established who the new maid was, it showed the implications that Roberta’s little adventure will have on Roanapur, while still keeping a few things a secret (for example why Balalaika and the favour that Dutch did to her, and what it had to do with anything here). It showed a lot of new stuff about the setting, like all of the different cartels that are operating in the city.
It’s clear that the creators are intending this to become a chapter in which all hell breaks loose. The previous episode explored how much of a monster Roberta had become, this episode did the same for the other fractions involved: the FARC and the US Army, mainly by not showing them and instead having all kinds of people talk about them.

Im confused, I always thought the church was a CIA front, but it seemed like the mother superior was a different agency if she was government at all.
You would also think Levvie would be more careful with who she gossiped, Chang seems to know someone at the Church is CIA even if he doesnt know who exactly.
Do see how manipulative is Eda?I’m afraid that we’ve seen only a glimpse from Eda’s real horrible attitude.Don’t forget:Revy and Rock have only seen Eda’s cute facade!!
I guess Rock’s right for suspecting her,Eda I mean.
As for Revy,what will happen if suddenly she recognizes the policeman who raped her?I guess she would kill him,and I am OK with that,but if he’s under the protection of the US government for “a great cause”.”Don’t you dare touch him,Revy!He’s an asset for the US interests”,Eda might say.
And who’s going to save Roanapur-and the rest of the -from unscrupulous government organisations and their agents like Eda?
With good luck maybe Rock will be the one to expose Eda’s real face. Remember her cute facade is one thing but her face is other!What are her weak points and what her strong ones?Maybe the Iranians would turn very usefull for Roanapur and the rest of the world.
I think Rock’s parents must ‘ve played a great,influential role in his life,because how else did he acquire these great moral values and virtues(and the courage to stand for them as well)?There’s no such as “press the button and the values come in”!It demands great patience,time and cultivation to pass them to the youngster,or apprentice if you like.Also may they taught him to never to trust Americans…
Yes,he doesn’t know who because Eda choosed to do it subtly:She’s using a altering voice device,a camouflage.And she managed to frighten Chang,apparently she fancy herself to be very clever to fool every one forever.Surely forever?
Let’s hope Rock-before it get’s too late- will find out who she really is and to expose her.

Depressed Roberta is scare for sure. Actually I hoped this episode will also get some action. After watch it halfway, nah I give up. The action is saved for next ova.
Naked Roberta wasnt enough action? Been a long time since mainstream anime did overt nudity like that rather than fan service.
Have to love the ending sequence and reminder to “everyone else”
