Okay. Now this was just crazy.
The big difference between this arc and the previous ones lies in the characters. In the previous arcs, the villains just weren’t interesting. their characterization was too simple, their characters were too one-sided. Fourth has been around for a while, which really helped. Ninth and that other officer also were getting better, which resulted in an episode that was finally about characters I could care about, and it’s no longer an “us vs them” deal. As a result this was pretty much my favorite episode of this show so far.
What I do want to know is how Ninth escaped from all of this. I know she has the escape diary and all, but even escaping is very hard if you’re chained to a freaking police officer. I mea, the fact remains that she blew up a school and a hospital. Did he just let her go because she looked cute or something?
I also love the way in which the end of this episode featured Yukiteru claiming that the officer he shot turned out to be alive. I know that being shot in the chest is survivable when treated immediately, but there still are so many things wrong with that:
– First of all, what happened Yukiteru’s sense of responsibility? “Oh, he didn’t die; I have no guilt whatsoever; I don’t need to visit the hospital to apologize to him or anything, let’s move on now…”
– Also, I love how this show just lets it slide off that Yuno has just become a mass murderer here. I’m not even talking about those corpses she hides. This episode did show her mercilessly kill about five police officers. And nobody even mentions that afterwards. Could Yuno perhaps be this ghost that only diary holders can see or something?

But but but Psgels, once you start asking questions it all unravels.
For example in the scuffle with the police officers Yuki drops his phone on the floor and he never picks it up again. But when he’s facing Fourth he pulls it out of his trouser pocket. [How?!!]
If Yuno buried the bodies deep deep down to forget, what the hell is she doing with what she has in the bag?!
Love the last shot in the episode!
The end short was also interesting in what it revealed about the fourth.
“Yuki drops his phone on the floor and he never picks it up again.”
We can assume that he did although it wasn’t shown.
“Yuno buried the bodies…what the hell is she doing with what she has in the bag?!”
Again, the viewer can make assumptions: we only saw the skulls, the rest of the bodies may be buried. The assumption is reasonable taking into consideration the size of the bag she had with her on the train. It would be impossible to fit all the bones as well as the “medicine” and clothes that were also in the bag.
I think in the flow of the story, from when he dropped the phone, to when we’re shown him pulling it out of his trousers, he would have been under the attentions of the police and would not have had time to retrieve the phone while having a dozen guns aimed at him.
As the phone is meant to be his life, it’s just weird that it was a piece of detail that was not explained properly. [Not sure how it’s handled in the manga]

The second point. Well I’m not assuming she’s taking the whole bodies with her but, in the story we are shown her burying the something (granted we don’t know what she’s buried), and then Yuno goes into complete denial about what she’s done. When it is discussed Akase presumes that Yuno is trying to bury her dark side, and is in complete denial in order to be with Yuki. So why are the body parts making a reappearance?
Of course it may be explained later? But generally a lot of inexplicable things happen in Mirai in order to drive the plot forward, and I have a suspicion this may be one of them.
Like psgels pointed out there are also other things that are not explained, such as how did Ninth escape? And in real life, I don’t think you’re allowed to interrogate minors without a guardian being notified.
Ugh, but like I say, once you start picking there are too many things. It’s better to let it slide, and just enjoy the ride.

True enough I guess. Whenever things like that happen, I just make assumptions.
9th’s escape… not to mention her escape diary (finally free of 4th’s diary as a counterbalance), haven’t we sensed a little budding romance with the young detective?

I think the scene of Yuno digging got added after the magazine run, in any case the story works better without that scene IMHO.
The skulls are kinda just there for shock value, there’s no logical, in-story reason for it. Well, a reason due to abnormal psych, but not a logical reason. Maybe anime will fix it, bit iirc you can just assume she didn’t bury the skulls with the bodies.
Main thing is that the author uses the skulls for is an iconic image, the symbolism of which you can’t unsee once you see it (but slipped past me on a first read). That image should be in episode 13.

Didn’t you see the part where Akise Aru sent the message to Yukiteru while he was in the train station stating that the police was looking for Yuno? Of course Yuno deleted the message before he can read it, but even IF they did let it slide, where are the witnesses? Yuno killed most of the officers in the corridor (Fourth also kills at least one: look at the scene carefully) and Fourth is dead. We can assume that Yukiteru hasn’t told the police anything as he said they went through a “thorough” interrogation and were released. They probably only noticed afterwards that the deaths inside the building were not all accounted for. Blame the incompetent officers! lol 😛
So what if they actually… start investigating what happened? Bullets can be tracked back to what gun they were fired from. If the police got their hands on the gun that Yuno used, they can easily check with fingerprints that she used it.
I think you missed the point I was trying to make or only read the latter half of what I typed. What I said in the latter half was “but even IF they did let it slide”. In other words, I was exploring a hypothetical instance in which the police were not searching for Yuno.
As vjott said, Akise was trying to inform Yukiteru that the arrest warrant is still active against Yuno, but since the incident she has gone into hiding. The investigation is still very discreet at the moment.
Next episode onward, the arrest warrent will be the least of your concern.

If you already liked the sheer absurdity so far, the dial will go up to eleven, and you’ll have a shit-eatin’ grin plastered on your face.

Most of the killings are considered self-defense, since it was later proven that Kuruge had set them up.
Yukiteru shot the officer in the stomach Mr. Orange style. Not necissarily lethal.
Yuno, though, slipped up and didn’t make sure that 4th was dead.
I’m trying to think of something to explain what/why Yuno is trying to cover up.
She’s too adept in combat situations! Has anyone noticed her firearms abilities? I’m guessing she had some military training against her will. The bodies could be revenge kills, OR in a super shocker, she went out of her way and killed some of the other diary owners and we haven’t been filed in on what went down just quite yet.
Can someone comment back how many eps this is going to run for? I’m enjoying every minute of it.

One thing you all forget about this show is that it’s about psychotic people placed into a game of survival. The majority of the cast are insane or at least partially. If anything Yukiteru is the most insane of them all. He is so detached and unaffected by it all. The only time he shows true emotion is when he is confronted by another force of insanity. He is just as fucked up as the rest of them, don’t forget that.

If what I said actually happens I will probably throw my computer at the wall because those kinds of endings are just lazy, especially when there was absolutely no foreshadowing whatsoever throughout the entire series. Also psgels, I doubt Yuuno is some ghost lol. Yukiteru’s mom could see her.
