High School of the Dead – 06

Um. Yeah. I’m not going to blog softcore porn here…

Regarding the parts of this episode that weren’t part of High School of the Boobs, this episode created a new layer of chaos by finally showing the police being forced to take drastic measures, and actually kill people. It’s all a big build up to the second half of this series, and at least that part of the episode worked well.

This episode also introduced a really weird plothole with the dog. It was barking, it made noise, it was loud… and yet the zombies didn’t seem to care. I mean, these really are the most selective zombies I’ve seen, only responding to certain sounds while completely ignoring others. It’s a shame really. Zombie dogs would have been quite interesting here.

  1. The police officer shooting the protester made no sense. Since when does that restore order in an angry mob?

Also, the angry mob itself doesn’t make sense. Their beliefs are absurd, and absurd beliefs don’t materialize out of nowhere spontaneously and so quickly.

  2. I am not surprised that you don’t like this, since I read the manga I really did not expect anything else, boobs + gore, that is all this manga/anime has to offer. Mediocre but still fun for me.

  3. Snippage for broken comment:

As for dog barking – zombies do not usually go for animals. They react and eat and attack only humans. The same goes for this series. Zombies most likely treated the dog as some sort of inanimate object, going towards the sound and finding nothing.

As for bath, if the fanservice is ignored, it was really interesting character build up episode as we got insights into how the minds of most of the cast work as well as into Rei’s relationship and confirmation on why she chose Hisashi over him.

    @jane
You wake up. The city is full of zombies and government is restricting access. Gee i wonder what a random paranoid person would think~

  4. Exactly UnknownVoice.

Animals are usually off-limits for Zombies. Zombies propagate from humans and in large, only attack humans.

Many Zombie movies and games have had moments where they had pets roam around freely while humans were in danger.

  5. The other half of the soft core porn in this episode is Hirano, the incarnation of revenge fantasy for a loser, getting his toys. Pew pew.

The mob is a caricature of anti-war protesters. There’s a scene missing where Hirano and Komuro decide that they’re left-wing hardliners stirring up trouble. It’s cheesy.

Blind zombies shouldn’t be able to hunt well, slow zombies shouldn’t be popping up and surprising people, they shouldn’t be distributed all over the place, etc. The one rule of the zombies is that they will behave in whatever way is convenient for the scene. Everything goes for the sake of demonstrating the ineffectualness of society, and the danger the survivors face as their world turns against them.

  6. Maybe some people don’t realize this manga is drawn by a hentai artist for his brother (the author) and the whole thing is a parody/homage to zombie movies.

  7. I think it was at around this part in the manga that I stopped reading last time. I dunno, maybe I just find it hard to be aroused when there’s constant reminders of ZOMBIES roaming around outside. (And the line where it pretty much implies they’re not going to even attempt an explanation why the zombie breakout happened. Eh, they’re just there so we can have blood and gore and tits.)

  8. DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK if you will be grossed out by scenes from the grossest gore flick ever made. Why am I posting it? It proves that dogs can get infected also. ^_^ It also has a cool zombie song. ^_~

But I have always said that HSotD sucks. The blogsphere is just now beginning to realize where the budget went.
