Short Synopsis: The end of Ghost Hunt. Naru wakes up, his secret is revealed, and the case gets solved.
Good: Matsuzaki was in her element.

You know, for a Ghost Hunt-episode, this wasn’t such a bad one. I quite enjoyed it, actually. Especially Matsuzaki was great to watch. There were a nice amount of climaxes, all of them were worthwhile to see. I also liked how this episode didn’t go into the “worst case scenario” as well, and chose the most natural solution instead.
Still.
Leaving the last part of a manga you’re based on out never is a good idea. xxxHolic was the only anime so far who left an acceptable result, but the fact remains that Ghost Hunt did leave a number of unanswered questions behind. First of all, Naru’s parents. While it’s nearly obvious that it’s that professor, I’d like to see it actually confirmed.
I was glad to see that Matsuzaki’s story felt the most complete after this episode, and therefore, it’s my favourite. Bou-san could have used a bit more explanation why he ended up in both a rock-band and a monk as well. For Mai’s case, we still don’t know how she got her powers, and why it’s Naru that always appears in her dreams. John doesn’t have any background at all, while we still don’t know why Naru is so incredibly friendly towards Masako. Overall, this could have been done much better, so I’m hoping for some kind of OVA to finish all these stories that were left in the final two books who haven’t been animated yet. But that probably won’t happen.
Overall, I expected a lot from Ghost Hunt, but overall, it rather disappointed. Episode five was awesome, but I still have yet to encounter an episode that managed to beat it. It would have been better if a bit more emphasis was put on the side-characters. That’s why I liked this final arc: because it put one of the main characters out of commission for half of its airtime.]]>

An FYI for you. The anime did not leave out the last part of the manga. The anime stopped exactly where the manga stopped. The manga hasn’t finished the story either. The last published volume of the manga ends exactly where the episode ended — in the hospital room with Mai and Masako bickering. The novels that the manga is based on have answered the outstanding questions though. So the information is available but not in manga form yet.
Ack, yes. That’s what I meant. *kicks self* I’d love to see the final novels get animated, though I don’t give this high chances.
Wasn’t it great to see Matsuzaki get the win? After being labelled ‘useless’ so often. And so cool about it …….eeeeeeee!!!

I like ghost hunt in general, it gave me an excitement feeling that I rarely have with the animes these days..so overall it’s a good one>>hopefully they’ll continue the story in ova or special episodes coz am curious about the development of mai and naru relationship ^ ^
it is possible to know a ghost but they can never know you. the only know your ghost-form, the form that you project so that they can see a form of you. kayleb projected many ghost-forms, many at once, that was one of the things he loved about the ghosts, he could see the many apparitions of his self interact with the ghosts. in their world. in their world. their world existed in between th world he experienced with other people and the world inside him. the boundary between the world inside him and the ghost world was blurry but the world outside, the world of people and things and places, that world was definite and its boundaries were definite. this sureness and clarity scared kayleb. it scared the ghosts too.
Ghost Hunt made me incredibly excited for animes. The ones they show on T.V now aren’t all that great, but Ghost Hunt, even in only Twenty Five episodes is one of my top five favorite shows! I really hope they do an OVA or some sort of continual movie or episodes, the show really deserves it!
Umm, I really hate to give you a spoiler, but it annoyed me when you keep assuming that Prof. Davis is Naru’s father, when in fact Prof. Davis is Naru himself…. TT_TT
