Claymore – 26

And so it has finally ended. Spoilers will obviously follow, but with this series it’s not like you can’t guess what happened. Personally, I’m not too happy with the ending. Not only did it leave even more threads open than I expected by not killing Priscilla, it also couldn’t have been more predictable. There’s an overblown fight, after which Priscilla is about to die but Raki stops Claire from killing the cute girl. Jeane then pulls back Claire from her awakened state while sacrificing herself and everyone lives happily ever after. The only one I liked here was Jeane. By far Claymore’s biggest mistake was the behaviour of awakened beings. Not only is it never explained well (after all, we never know what’s the difference between Easley and a regular male Claymore. How does the personality of a Claymore exactly change after awakening? This anime never clearly gives an answer to that), and it mad Claire and Priscilla as personality-less as possible. Their fight could have just been replaced by a bunch of berserked monkeys. The fact remains that I did enjoy the final fights of other anime, most importantly El Cazador, Bokura no and Seirei no Moribito. The thing that made their fights work was how the different parties all made rational decisions, and were thinking about their purposes in a clear and focused way. When the actors are mentally deluded like Claire and Priscilla, that really takes away all of the fun.]]>

  1. It did leave a lot of room for a second season but it seems as though Clare has given up and killing Priscilla because of Raki. Priscilla has killed THOUSANDS of people. Raki is so stupid int he anime..
How will the anime progress if Clare has given up on killing Priscilla? Just go live as a human among humans? Its like they wanted to end it but also leave some room for a second season. It was awful. The manga is going to be amazing though.

  2. “The only one I liked here was Jeane.”
Funny, think you already know but this is probably the only scene if not one of the few scene in the episode that was the same / mimicked from the manga.

  3. yup. i agree, this just wouldn’t do for a good finale. i mean, the diversion of the story from the manga was just too far-fetched. More explanations as to what really had transpired during the war in the North is very essential I should say. The fight scene was rather a bit of a disappointment. In the manga, it really took a lot of time before Clare got even that close to Priscilla. I can’t picture how a possible next season would come out. But then again, it wouldn’t be Claymore if it had been too predictable. I really enjoy the manga though. I totally love this series. ^^

  4. “In the manga, it really took a lot of time before Clare got even that close to Priscilla.”
oh, I haven’t seen Clare meet up with Priscilla in the manga though (if people would misinterpret) because the manga is still ongoing. I was basically assuming that even as for Clare, she would realize her limits. But manga is manga so I guess they’re a lot different. I still love this series. ^^

  5. Not a bad ending considering the source. As a manga reader, it seemed like a decent “alternate ending.” Of sorts. And, I think the only big issue that would prevent a second season from following the manga is Raki’s placement. Especially since we don’t even know where he is yet. If they can figure that out, I don’t think it’d be too bad.

  6. I really hate Raki in the anime. Priscilla is now a monster and has eaten entire towns full of people. Stopping Clare means that Priscilla gets to live on and kill more people. Stupid Raki.
Clare giving up on killing Priscilla makes it seem as though there wont be a second season and if there is she will help out in destroying the organization. She should still take out Priscilla though.

  7. Raki was just pathetic in this episode. Saying that he and Clare promised to see each other and be the COOK! I know Raki is naive but saying that word COOK is just lame. Not seeing Easly not transforming was a huge disappointment. The lameness of the ending might even motivate someone to make an abridged series of this one, can’t wait.

  8. I really hope for more Claymore animation. It would be the best thing ever if they backtracked to the last episode that was true to the manga and picked up from there while staying true to the manga. That would be AMAZING.

  9. the manga goes past this point but continues 7 years later with a new number 47 name clairis or something like that

  10. well i think that their gonna makew a season 2 cuz they lef t out the part where easly fights and when the west needs a claymore for her plans. Maybe they left it azn a cliffhanger and made it so that the author can start on volume 13 and 14?

  11. “we never know what’s the difference between Easley and a regular male Claymore”
-In an earlier episode when they explain what the three main dudes are, they say Easley was the first male Number One. In another words, the strongest of the successful yet horribly flawed male generation. (The other two being Female Number Ones)
