Okay, so I had an entire post written up, only to accidentally delete it. *headdesk*
In any case, this was a wonderful way to end this series. This really was entertainment. The ultimate bad guy turned out to be much better than I expected. He’s not just this guy who is ridiculously strong and beat Orthros three years ago. With daily fights over food, that would be a bit against the point of this series. Instead, his psychological attacks were wonderful. Especially with his own theme song, the way he stepped on their pride was a very nice idea here. Sato also proved that he’s worth it as a main character when he actually used the same tactic as the villain of the first arc. Everything came together really well. It’s unfortunate that Yarizui wasn’t involved, but heck; she was sick. Finally someone’s being responsible here.
Overall, Kore wa Zombie Desu ka nearly killed my faith in an entire genre last winter. At that point, I was really consented with the idea that unfortunately, for a few great episode, we’d have to sit through hours of the creators not even trying to be entertaining. Thankfully, the rest of the year proved me wrong though.
I’ll just say it: Ben-To and Dororon Enma-kun were the best fanservice comedies I have ever seen. Ben-To may not have been the best show this season, but it did push the boundaries within its own overcrowded genre, and set the standards of it higher. I count that as a job well done for David Production. Let’s hope that they can do the same for Inu X Boku.

This maybe just me, but I was actually disappointed with the ending. I get how the villain was very cunning in the way he used the strategy of attacking Orthros mentally having no chance to win physically. Its just that I thought what he did must have been so bad to cause one of those girls to keep having nightmares 3 years after the so called traumatic incident. I know the way they take fighting for half priced bento so seriously is the foundation of the series, but to actually get nightmares for 3 frickin’ years just because everyone took the stance of letting them take the bento without fighting them is just so ridiculous beyond belief. After all the build up to make me think of what sort of horrors the twins had faced 3 years back, that revelation was a total anticlimax for me. Another sticking point I had was how before this the twins could kick all the wolves asses with almost no sweat, with even how the wolves in the other town had to use those underhanded tactics to make Orthros stop being wolves, and yet they didn’t get the bento in the final fight.
I think what troubled the twins that much was more the fact that they were rejected from the thing they loved so much (fighting for the half-price bento). So it was more their fear of being rejected and put aside because of their strength again. Sure it’s pretty dumb when you think about it, but so is the show xD I didn’t really mind.
That was anticlimatic.
Painfully so.
I’m finding myself siding with the bad guy here.
Even if they won this time, what’s stopping them from winning every single lunch from here on out? I thought the aim was to get the lunch, and the fighting was just a means to get it.
Am I missing something?
Actually I think Sato meant that if the twins are really that strong, then they just have to get stronger to fight them and get their meals. That’s the real spirit of the wolf.
Actually the way I understand it the fight is no less important than the ben-to itself. The fight is what makes the ben-to so desirable, an earned reward for the effort spent.
Getting back to reality, a ben-to is more expensive than just buying ingredients and making the lunch by yourself. Plus we’ve already seen that many of the important, powerful (with power being proof of dedication to the fights) wolves are in no financial need (Orthros’ room, Monarch’s evil lair and gang, actually the only wolf who’s represented as poor is the protag..and I’m not actually sure about it).
The whole point was that Orthros loved participating in the battle and winning. If they can simply walk up to the counter and grab the ben-to then it’s just like shopping in the supermarket normally. It’s not like they were short of money after all .. they go to a posh all girls school.
O well I am disapointing abaout not seeing the twin battle but, I imagine that if you know the tactic and in a figth 6 strong vs two very strong are a chance of winning, plus theay was very inspirated at the moment. In the end I am whit Psgels the ending was nice. A very good show is a shame that only have twelve episodes.
