Good: Mai! Finally! Urado; Finally we have an episode with an actual good combination of light and heavy scenes.

Ah, I’ve been waiting for this. Finally Mai has to be strong, in order to save Masako, who displays a weaker side of hers during this episode. Okay, she had to be saved in the end, but this was a good step in the right direction. I’m really hoping that similar situations will appear in the next episode and the final arc. All that’s left now is add an addictive pacing like in the fifth episode, and I’ll be really happy. 🙂
And dear god, Urado. He probably was the scariest ghost on Ghost Hunt yet, bathing in the blood of his tens, maybe hundreds of victims. I have no idea how the blood remained fresh after all these years, but the way he looked even beat the evil mother of the second arc. But why the heck didn’t he kill Masako as soon as he kidnapped her? After all, all the other victims were killed as soon as Urado transported them.
The next episode will probably serve as a final chance to flesh out the characters, while the final arc is probably meant to reveal the secret Naru, Masako and Lin share. We already know that Professor Davis is Naru’s father, but there’s more to this than just that. And please let John and Matsuzaki have at least sort of an important role. They’ve been really useless up till now.]]>

You are assuming that Urado killed his victims immediately after transportation. However, that was never mentioned in the story if I recall correctly. The fact is that we don’t know how long the persons were kept as prisoners before they were killed. The only thing we know regarding their time of death is that when Lin asked Naru what date he should use as Suzuki’s death date for the summoning, Naru said to use the day after her disappearance. That suggests Naru suspects that Suzuki was not killed immediately after her disappearance but was kept as a prisoner for a while before her murder.
That was unbelievably good…. I’m getting kinda sad that there is only 1 arc left…. we need way more of this…. 2 or 3 seasons would be fine… I am pro Mai all the way, but jealous Masako is darned cute too…
LKK: the reason why I assumed that the victims were killed immediately was because of Suzuki’s ghost, and how she didn’t even realize she was dead. Because of that, I figured that she didn’t even realize that she was transported, but now I see that that doesn’t sound right.
Ghost hunt is really awesome anime..it strongly needs at least season 2..Does any one know if they’ll end it in 26 episodes only..coz I think the manga is far way from that>>it’s about 9 volumes in japan (and it still continues)..It required to have a season 2 for sure >_
So far, nothing about a second season has been announced yet. This does make me a bit worried about the anime, though, because I’m not hoping that they’re going to rush the ending.
Seems to me that Masako wasn’t slaughtered immediately because Urado was bathing in the other victims’ blood. Masako was probably brought there by Urado’s two henchmen to be used for the next round of blood-bathing.
Gross, I know.
The next story arc will complete the existing manga series; all 9 volumes will have been animated. A new volume in the manga series (volume 10) is due to be released at the end of April. This information was just recently announced.
This episode sent chills up my spine. I so wish there were more episodes because it would give the series a chance to do stuff like this again. Anyways I enjoyed it was a shame that they had to abandon the case. I just wish Ghost Hunt was this good always.
That means that only one volume will be left after the series finished. There’s no way they’re going to be making a second season of that, unfortunately. An ova could be a slight possibility, though.
But aren’t the novels still ongoing? Does the mangaka intend to only do the first novel and not the others? In which case, it does make sense to not do a second arc for the series.
But the animators, dropped the filler episode, which makes me wonder why they’d do it, if they are anyways going to wrap up the show. I’m speculating, it could mean a second series – but that’s just the optimist in me talking.
It;s very good news about the manga though. I hope the novels are continued as manga, because although it isnt from Mai’s POV anymore, the characters do come again together for more cases. I read somewhere, a triangle ensues as well, and I cant wait for that! =D
Wait, so in the newer volumes, then the POV shifts away from Mai? It that’s the case, than I’m interested in seeing a continuation. It’ll probably take a long while for it to arrive, though, if it’s going to arrive in the first place.
Okay, here’s the situation for the novels & the manga. After the current anime story arc ends, there are two more cases in the novel series that have not converted into manga. Each case requires 2 books to complete. So that means there are 2 investigations spanning 4 books.
The next case is written in the first person from Mai’s point of view. This is the case where most of the answers regarding the mysteries of Naru are revealed. The second case is written from the traditional third person point of view. Because it’s such a change from the first 7 cases, it’s thought of as a second novel set. (Remember, it takes 2 books to solve this case.)
The last novel was released in 1994. It’s possible that the novelist will continue the series. But as time passes, the likelihood grows smaller.
Also this morning, I learned that volume 10 of the manga has been pulled from the publisher’s release schedule. I don’t know any details as to why it was removed.
Ah, thanks for clarifying. If the last update we got from the novels are from 1994, it’s indeed unlikely for a second season to come, if all it has is two books. The only hope for this series then is some kind of OVA, which discusses the final two books. I’m not sure whether the creators are going to do this, though. After all, both Fruits Basket and xxxHolic had enough material left for more airtime, but both of them stopped after their 24th/26th episode.
