Bakuman – 16

Bizarrely enough, this episode ended with a twist from a bad soap opera, in which Character A walks in on Character B and C while they’re making out. It’s a good thing that there are no love triangles in this series.

Apart from that, it pretty much was the same old story here: this episode was slooooooow, but some stuff did happen: Akito dived into a bit of a writer’s block, Mio made her first appearance on TV and Moritaka is going to be the assistant of Nizuma Eiji during the summer vacation. That latter was probably the major development of this episode, but the fact that people actually kissed here also is a major breakthrough. As opposed to Moritaka and Mio, Akito and Kaya actually spend time together, which is a much healthier way to develop a relationship.

And yeah… that’s pretty much all I have to say about it. Normally with blogging I try to at least fill three paragraphs, but this is moving at such a slow pacing that apart from that I don’t have much to say about it, hence this fillery paragraph…
Rating: (Enjoyable)

  1. I dont get why everyone complains about the slow pacing… It feels perfect for me, since the whole story is so down to earth

And the whole thing is really enjoyable… It isnt one of those animes that relies on cliff hangers to keep you watching, its just fun in general to watch the characters

  2. Frost: well, this episode did have a cliff-hanger. 😉

I get what you mean though, and the slow pacing is indeed not exactly bad. I’m just struggling to find enough to say about it every single week at the rate at which it keeps going…

  3. To be fair, Bakuman is the kind of anime where people focus on stuff that happens while talking about manga. Sometimes its a slow episode (plot movement wise), but alot of information get revealed in the conversation.

And I find the slow moving plot bearable when it doesn’t involve Mashiro/Azuki romance. That was my biggest problem in the early episode. It was just a load of unnecessary angst in a story that should on making manga, not teen romance.

  4. Yeah I get it, some series just arent as “bloggable” as others

I gotta take a look at the manga because the pacing really feels fine to me, and I find the romance between Akito and Kaya cute, so Im not bothered there at all

I am bothered by the nonsense of waiting 3 years to date though, thats just ridiculous… “I really want this girl but Im gonna miss out on my youth because Im an idiot”… Makes perfect sense /facepalm

  5. @Frost: Finally…another person who understands *manly tear* (j/k) and enjoys this show in the same way i do.

Personally, the episodes fly by for me. I am glad that you continue to blog this awesome show though.
