Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu – 20

Again: a really good episode. I mean, it really took a while for this series to get going, but it’s quite excellent at this point with very few weaknesses left. Ryner’s angst ten episodes ago was still rather annoying. Right now though, with an entire episode dedicated to it, it really shined again: this was such a bittersweet episode for such a seemingly jolly fantasy series.

There is no real good and evil in this series, but the biggest asshole is without a doubt that short-haired Gastark guy. The things that he does in this episode were just… depressing beyond belief, especially after how often this series has reminded us how much the people with the Alpha Stigma have been suffering in the past.

The parts that really made this episode for me was when Ferris got in the picture, though. After 20 episodes, she finally got the chance to yell something other at Ryner than her usual random insults. It’s about time that the relationship between these two developed, and the past episode did a wonderful job there.
Rating: ** (Excellent)

  1. This was the best episode so far. I have a question though: Does anybody know/ understand why
Gastark and Roland are hostile exactly? It may have been mentioned, but I missed it completely..

  2. Gastark King is a power hungry idiot.

Nice heartfelt episode. Made me tear up a little when Ferris said that she’ll be lonely without Ryner and Ryner crying. TT

I wonder if Ryner could use his alpha stigma power without going berserk now. Like Tiir did.

  3. Great episode is it just me or does this series seems to be going under the radar of most people or perhapes its just underrated.

BTW just a quick grammar check i think
“chance to yell something other at Ryner than her usual random”
    is suppose to be
“chance to yell something at Ryner other than…”-> lol troll XD

  4. @ Puran

I do not think most casual viewers would be able to stomach the early inconsistency of this series to reach the pot of gold that we’re watching right now.

  5. Funny, you all mention an “inconsistent/jumbled” beginning. And here I thought that was one of the charms of the series — to be silly, serious, and charming all at once against a building political backdrop.

Now that the threads are coming together, it’s progressing like a more standard, predictable series. If this engenders the “consistency” of which you speak, so be it.

  6. hoiut, on the money.

They tried to do way too much in this episode, it really wasnt very well done. Sounds like you all really wanted this series to be good; since you didnt like the first half, you reach in the second and since at least one person agrees… Meh, the pacing of this series was and still is terrible.
I still enjoy it, i really thought ryner was gonna lose it there.
