Welcome to this week’s Dungeon! We have thickening…plots! Also, Hestia shows up late, Bell gets beat up (and likes it), and Lili wins a high stakes drinking game!
For starters, let the record (and the previous blog post) show that I correctly predicted this episode would see the mechanics behind changing families. But boy was I wrong in how we would see it in action. I figured it would be with prize money from the Apollo family to buy out Lili. The multiple transactions and how they came about caught me off guard.
Another unexpected twist was encountering the fabled Soma wine that had been lurking in the background for a while. It seems as though this wine only works on those with nothing good to live for – interesting if heavy handed mechanic. Also apparently the only way to win their god’s respect is to out drink him (or at least survive his drinking game). Huh.
In other news, I’m not surprised Loki isn’t publicly supporting the Hestia family (if you watched the spinoff, you would know that she has plenty else going on at the moment). However, I am glad to see some grassroots uprisings to turn the tides against the child stealer Apollo. I’m left wondering how many familias have gone extinct, and what happened to their dieties? I know we had at least 2 eliminated in the previous season (that we heard about), but I wonder if we’ll see a bit more of that.
Also, I figured we would have some Hestia family acquisitions , but I didn’t expect 3 in one go. Not sure how I feel about the abruptness, but I guess each transplant does have differing levels of indebtedness specifically to Bell. Also Hermes seems to have thought this all through pretty well – definitely ironic when he’s called fair and impartial. Guess when Bell gets transferred to the Apollo familia, Hestia familia will still have members….right? right?
Last episode…things seemed grim. This round it seems the tables are turning – all of Bells allies are subtly working to give him a chance. As Ais says: “fighting people is different than monsters”.
All in all, this new look dungeon season isn’t bad – it’s like taking a break from progression raiding to play some PvP. I’m surprised the direction this season’s gone – but not disappointed. War game on!
I’m pretty sure Bell is developing some kind of complex after all this Ais training.
