Here’s a quickie: Usavich may be 39 episodes long, but each of these episodes is just a minute and a half long. You can breeze through this series in about one hour. But is it worth it? Yeah.
The thing with comedy anime, and especially those very short and strange looking ones is that you’ll never know whether or not they have enough inspiration for their jokes after some initial hilarity. Usavich is the story of two CG rabbits, who we can see in jail, an later on in the series they escape. The sense of humour in this series is downright absurd: there are tons of violence jokes, toilet jokes, sadism, flat-out randomness and let’s not forget the three musical episodes that are some sort of musical medley throughout various sound-effects. Just watch it, it’s very hard to explain.
The lead characters have absolutely no lines, and are pretty stereotypical, but what makes Usavich awesome is its sense of timing. The jokes are all delivered spot-on, and it retains its hilarity throughout the entire series. It loses a few points by repeating some of its jokes at times, but most of the episodes sparkle with creativity. A recommendation if you’re looking for a really quick watch. Heck, even Chi’s Sweet Home’s episodes were longer.

Can you tell something about the language, as I’ve seen on anidb, that there is maybe NO dialogue = no language-information? You said, that the main characters have no lines – but how should I imagine a musical-episode without text? In what language are the musical-episodes, if all the rest has no dialogues?

The musical episodes are really nothing but a bunch of sound-effects, strung together to make a beat. 😉
Also, for the rest there really isn’t much dialogue, other than some grunting and russian gibberish which doesn’t really need a translation.

Several fishy jokes may not ruin the comedy. But here it’s the opposite – few good jokes under a pile of trash. You can easily lower your ratings because of fanservice, but here… Tell me, in witch way toilet humor is better than pantyshots?
Nomus: I don’t think I get what you’re tying to say. Are you trying to say that my sense of humour is wrong? Are you trying to defend panty-shots? Do you mean that toilet jokes are evil?
Really, I didn’t rate this series high because of the toilet jokes (they were nowhere near the best jokes in this series). I rate it high because I found it really funny. Nothing more, nothing less. I agree that toilet jokes and fanservice jokes are often dull, but there are exceptions.
Sorry for late reply. No I didn’t try to defend fanservice, I used it as comparison. Toilet jokes can be evil, can be – not, but overusing them is always evil. The whole point was that I tried to watch this show, and every time I thought it’s funny it ruined everything with another dumb joke.
I just got into this after reading a doujin about it and I’d say the humour really picks up in the 2nd season. It’s most likely because they finally broke the formula (dancing Putin in S1, Kirenenko’s transformation). I actually liked the ones where Kirenenko is shown to be not as invincible as he is. ^^ Character development in comedy yay?
But I must admit, the later episodes wouldn’t have been as funny if I didn’t sit through the row of repetitive jokes. XD
