Okay, this is a bit of a weird entry. The thing is, that this will be the last entry for a few days. Tomorrow I’ll be on a holiday and I won’t return until upcoming friday. I do have internet connection starting tuesday, which I’ll probably use to submit a few entries, but expect some huge delays here.
Because of that, this week’s manga experiment is a bit different, because I’ve been busy packing my stuff and having a real life for a proper entry. I did visit a local manga library, at which I read a bit more of With the Light. Plus, I got a friend to loan me some manga that I can read while in the plane (all four volumes of Clamp’s wish to be exact, of which I already managed to finish the first chapter). But yeah, I can’t make any screenshots out of those, so no images for this entry.
With the Light – Vol.1: I finally managed to finish the first volume (which is like, triple the size of a regular manga volume), and I continued some of the steps in the life of the family while the titular autistic child Hikaru was in elementary school. A huge focus was on getting him to interact with “normal” people, instead of sending him to a place that only has autistic people, and I really liked that despite how hard it could be on him, that he’s improving slightly and slightly. The character-development here is top notch. At the same time, the author also takes her time to show some other problems of society, like domestic abuse, which is quite neatly woven into the rest of the story and used to relate back to the main characters. Quite well done.
Wish – Ch.01: I’ll have enough time to read this one while in my plane, but my first impressions of this are very favorable. I was a very big fan of Kobato’s last half, but so far the characters introduced here are completely different. And I like them a lot, especially the lead guy is likable and down to earth (not to mention in his twenties). This has got charm, of the same kind that made me such a big fan of Kobato.
And now for something completely random: what series would you like to see me blog next season? This is no thing definitive or anything, but I might use these results as a guide line.
Although it probably makes more sense to ask for psycho pass to be covered, I would hope that by watch kamisama hajimemashita would be able to restore your faith in the shoujo demographic.
If I could ask you to not blog about any series it’d be Gintama and Teekyu. Not that you were going to cover them anyways, but they simply don’t warrant specific analysis episode to episode as episodic comedies
The reason why the English volumes of With The Light are so big is that they’re actually two volumes thrown into one. I don’t know why Yen Press (the English company that licensed this) decided to put two volumes together, but I don’t mind one bit. And yes! You should read Wish as well. I own all four volumes and it’s great!
I wouldn’t mind if you blogged Little Busters and From The New World, the former mostly because I’m really sick and tired of all the pre-airing hate that LB is getting just because the show’s being handled by J.C. Staff instead of KyoAni. People need to have a bit more faith, and since you’re really good at seeing anime for what they are, maybe you can change their perspective a bit for the better.
@Firechick:I’ve always been interested in with the light but it concerned me that my own autism would be a factor in pushing me away from it, that is if it hit too close to home.
@Wicked:I know its noitamina and all but I’d think psgels might get fed up with robotics notes.
I dont know, he some how stuck with kimi-boku which had very little going on most of the time, though that might not be a good comparison, a sports anime might be a better comparison. I guess it will depend on cast chemistry and expectations.
Chemistry, absolutely and that’ll be be key to me enjoying the early bits of robotics notes.
probably not just early, according to people that played, building robots and finding friends and robot competition…AKA tale of youth is most of the game

I voted for Btooom because all the series I’ll watch will probably be covered and I thought it would be the series that I want you to blog that might not be covered but I’m wrong now that I checked the potential you gave Btooom…
So is this the replacement for every Autumn’s “Which series would you like me to blog” I wish you’d dedicate a formal blog entry for that.
That’s the thing: the previous years were just too formal, and after being forced to sit through Persona, I don’t feel like doing them anymore. This was literally an idea that popped into my head as I compiled this entry. It’s incredibly informal because of that. 😉

I don’t even know what most of these series will be about, I simply watch whichever good ones come around and try not to miss out on anything. Gintama is the king of comedy as far as I’m concerned, I’d recommend you’d watch it but I’m not sure if you’d want to blog it. It’s a long running series, mostly comedy though every now and then a serious arc comes around, those are usually very well done and amazing.
I think I’ll do more research on the upcomings.
I find myself vastly unimpressed with the majority of this list, however, Initial D, K, Psycho-Pass, Robotics;Notes, and From the New World seem to have the most interesting/unique premises. I gagged at some of the other ones. MB, and Jor. Also but those are sequels. The rest who knows.
Normally,I judged what is my favorite anime of the season from great character development.From the trailers and premise,I feel that Robotic notes and Little busters can do what I want.So…That’s my vote.
I know that this is very off-topic, but can I recommend 7 SEEDS? This is the most epic manga series I’ve ever read and it will only take a few seconds for you to Google it up and see how awesome it is! In a few words, it deals with post-apocalyptic Japan featuring gorgeous, well-fleshed characters and a complex story line. YOU.MUST.READ.7SEEDS.

I know it’s not on the list, still if you like Saint Seiya Omega but wish it had more depth to it, try to check out the manga “Saint Seiya – The Lost Canvas”.
That’s the most “complex” entry in the Saint Seiya franchise.

Psgels: I can hardly imagine you not blogging both Psycho-Pass and Robotics;Notes after seeing how much you enjoyed Puella Magi Madoka Magicka and Steins;Gate last year.
Hm, for some reason I don’t particularly like the ideas of having too much manga experiment. It’s nice as an experiment, but together with the weekly kaleidoscope, it makes the site a bit messy.
I actually agree with you. It was nice to do indeed, but messy indeed is the right word for the past three months. Next season I’m going to go back to my regular formula again, but at the very least this experiment served its purpose in finally getting me a bit familiar with manga. ^^;
