I’ll spare you the doom and gloom about this season’s anime lineup. Putting aside the dearth of worthwhile new series, summer is a time to relax and unwind, and it’s in that spirit that we’re only picking up three new shows: Sonny Boy, Aquatope, and Dragon Maid. Are there a handful of other bloggable titles among the weeds? For sure, but that’s why we have a Weekly Summary column, which Amun has volunteered to run this quarter. Apart from that, Star Crossed Anime’s next three months will be lighter than usual, but hey, fewer posts to read (and write) means more time to spend wrangling our unwieldy backlogs. Seasonal stuff will start coming down the pipe soon – hope you have a breezy summer.
EDIT: After a seismic third episode, it looks like Armitage now intends to blog Kageki Shoujo on a regular basis, so we’re one step closer to full strength. You love to see it!

I’ll be watching more aquatope, sonny boy, Kageki shoujo, hamefura definitely, Vanitas surprised me as I’m not usually into shounen like that but I’ll give it a chance.
Uramichi oniisan, only until the humour wears off for me, same with ore, tsushima.
I’m not sure about fumetsu, this is the part I had the manga on hold with.
I’m actually going to give the new love live a chance, I ended up watching some of season one….for REASON reasons.
I voted Michiko and hitachin mostly because I think it’ll serve Lenlo well, the latin aspect of it and being set in Brazil.
I want to blitzkrieg manga review suggestions to Armitage.
Blue Period was a significant surprise in that it WAS definitely something that earned its seinen tag, its a bit wordy at times but it was actually kind of an intellectual experience and there’s enough characterization in there, best part is the protag DOES’NT have haxxor shounen skills, he actually NEEDS to put in the effort.
I am a little swamped for time these days with Exam prep, but I vouch on my maiden name that Manga Mondays will be back in full force soon, damn it.
So, if you’ve got some nice manga suggestions, have at me, Kaiser!
And yes, Blue Period is very much so my favorite ongoing manga. And I can sing its praises to the moon and back all day. I am hyped as hell for the anime!!!
I can suggest some! I’ll be throwing in short ones, as I don’t want to overwhelm you with super long series.
Anne of Green Gables 1997 manga by Yumiko Igarashi (I know you already read it, but I think it’d be a great subject for Manga Mondays)
Chichi no Koyomi by Jiro Taniguchi
Fukakai na Boku no Subete o by Kata Konayama
Kobato by CLAMP

I look forward to seeing the weekly summary coverage for Kageki Shoujo. I think that show’s Episode 3 was the best episode any new seasonal had this season.
