Star Driver is full of random slice of life moments. This episode stood out at this point, though. A lot of this episode was the simple celebration of Wako’s birthday, and only showed Takuto, Sugata and Wako together. The creators put a lot of meaning behind it, thoough, and for a change it was pretty enjoyable to see them together for so long here, with the best parts being the birthday presents.
This episode also had an interesting subversion of the “I’m going to take over your body muaha”-trope. Most times when this gets used, it takes forever for someone to realize that something is wrong, and yet here everyone noticed the complete change in character of Sugata and Takuto. At the same time though, it could have been taken further. Instead, those two Crux members just gave up in the middle of it.
I keep expecting these series to get darker and more serious in their second halves, but there are more and more series like this that instead have these quiet kinds of episodes, right before they’re about to start building up to the finale. I’m not yet sure of whether or not this works, but at the end of this series we should know whether the past episodes knew exactly what they were doing… or were just randomly buying time.

No, no… x’3 If you’re referring to Wako and Sugata, I went back and checked, and he was just kissing her cheek while she was sleeping. Nearly freaked out after reading your comment, though.
Question. What exactly was supposed to be accomplished if Wako and Keito were seduced by the body snatchers? Personally It would have been more productive to say…place Takuto at the edge of the roof, jump out and watch him fall to his death.
Honestly, the glittering crux is the most half assed evil organization I have ever seen. Needless flamboyance aside I am baffled how such a organization works. First off they didn’t seem to do much of anything before Takuto came along. They had god knows how many years to find one maiden in an island which more a less half the population within the glittering crux. How do they even get members? Was it an option when signing up for a school club? The more the series goes on the less sense glittering crux makes.
Considering that bones is studio with common rushed unsatisfactory endings I doubt they will answer any of these questions.

But u really have got to admire Mamoru Miyano (Takuto’s seiyuu)… He can really acted out how Widow Star would sound like in Takuto’s body. The inflections and tones are spot on.
He’s fast becoming my favourite Seiyuu… XD
Here’s my theory based on the preview for the next episode:
The dude with the black hair who Head visited in the hospital is Takuto’s father.
Takuto’s mom and dad and head are very close friends just like Takuto, Sugata and Wako. And just like Sugata who has feelings for Wako, Head also have feelings for Takuto’s mom. I believe its like history repeating itself kinda thing.
This also explains why Head sees a lot of himself in Sugata.
The body switching was both refreshing and frustrating.
Refreshing how useless misunderstandings weren’t formed. Frustrating how so little was accomplished by it.
We could take over the bodies of the ONLY two people that are getting in the way of us taking over the island or whatever the hell we’re supposed to do, and make them kill each other or themselves or kidnap the last two maidens for us. But…meh, its to early for that. Maybe next episode.
Why are there so many critiques on how task-orientated and pragmatic an “evil organization” ought to act?
From what I see, Glittering Crux is not even a unified organization, there’s AT LEAST a 6 way divide based on different interests from the acting council alone. There isn’t even actual hierarchy going on in any of the factions, just acting leaders and employer relations. It doesn’t make sense to do anything “for the whole good of the organization.”
Because frankly, the “organization” doesn’t exist. “Glittering Crux” is a shorter way of referring to this gathering of people of completely different interests/powers/motives/etc.
I find it refreshing to see the characters in this series acting unlike the military in Gundam animes with their constant “what to do, what’s the most effective, can such method/sacrifice be justifiable, screamfest screamfest” lines of thoughts.
As for window star and needle star, two of the most adrenaline-orientated excitement-seekers. I don’t see how it’s even possible for them to be trying to do anything solely for a pragmatic end in mind. I had the understanding that they were trolling, and given the sadomasochistic personas they are given I don’t see how they would even consider getting Takuto/Sugata to jump off the roof. There’s a gathering, no unification, no organization, they are just together because they are all interested in cybodies for one reason or another, it’s absurd-okay maybe not, but certainly dull to have anyone with a “good-for-everyone-gathered-here” in mind.
