2007 has really been a bad year for the Mahou-Shoujo genre. I’m not really going to expect Shugo Chara to become better than Sasami Mahou Shoujo-club of last year. This episode also showed that the creators are going to settle for the story of the manga with fillers now and then to fill the time of a 26-episode-series, despite how I hoped for them to just go with their own version of the story. Still, this episode wasn’t that bad. It had no bad egg of the week, and finally put someone other than Amu in the spotlights. The result is a silly adventure where Ami and the Shugo Charas go on a treasure-hunt. Quite fun and random. The other characters also go through a bit of development, and we meet three new bad guys: the one who’s behind everything and tries to look evil behind his “Easter”-desk, a red-haired woman and the yellow-haired girl we’ve been seeing in the OP. It’s indeed like expected: Amu has Embryo. Otherwise, there’d be no way to explain why she has three Shugo Charas and can transform, while the others can’t. It’d be great if the creators showed why Amu of all possible people has it. I’m still not sure whether she’s going to be a good main character for this series, though. On one side, her case is interesting, about the facade she puts up in front of others, and she’s got a nice sense of humour. On the other hand, her whining against the Batsu-Charas for the past few episodes grew more obnoxious with every episode. I may have chosen the wrong shows to blog this season with Shugo Chara and Suteki Tantei Labyrinth. It’s ironic, at the start of the season, I tried my best to predict which series would turn out the most interesting, and I somehow ended up choosing these two above Mokke, which is getting better and better with every episode. It’s going to be a nice experiment, though. I wonder whether both series will be able to turn out excellent in their second halves. It’s not like these two series aren’t fun; actually, they’re quite enjoyable, but I just can’t see them become among the best series of the season.]]>
Shugo Chara is going to run for 52 episodes. At least thats whats been thrown around in the internet. I think its a great show. Simple, fun and enjoyable, something we’ve been missing a lot of considering the huge amounts of shows focusing on drama and emotional facial contortions.
52 episodes?
So i guess it’s no use reading the manga at all.
Still prefer shugo chara over STL,majnly because i definatly preffer amu over mayuki.
I agree with ivy,it’s simple, fun and enjoyable,it doesn’t pretend to be more than it really is,while STL seems like it does.
I just saw air gear recently and i thought they were both comparable in the sense that they seem to both have the extreme cheesiness of their genres (Shonen and Mahou-Shoujo) not to mention the engrish lol.
Interesting that you bring up mokke, shinsen subs just picked it up,so i’ll look into it.
52 episodes… I really hope that this series will remain fun for that whole period. It’s indeed good to have a series that’s just fun and not too serious once every season, though I admit that I expected something better for this series. Those damned expectations again…
Can you explain a little more about how Amu has the Embryo? Is that confirmed? Sorry, I do not fully understand this episode ^^;;
Ming: Well, it’s basically one big hunch I have. We haven’t seen it confirmed, but otherwise I just can’t see why Amu of everyone has to be special with three Shugo Charas and how she is the only one who can transform.
Amu turned out to be whiny in the anime because of the changes they made… so I try not to be affected by that anymore, and see her as the manga-Amu.
as for the Embryo, I’m thinking there’s more to it than simply an “egg”, or that there’d be a series of events which will allow the Embryo to materialize. A fusion of the eggs, and the unlocking of the Humpty Lock with Ikuto’s Dumpty key, perhaps…
This is not going to run for 52 episodes. This lists 13 episodes of which 7 have aired so far: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=8182
That’s more than enough, in my opinion, if you don’t want to risk diabetes.
Kurisu: Anime News Network should not be regarded as a reliable source for episode-counts. That list basically shows all the known airdates for the next episodes, and it could be that more of these episodes can follow afterwards.
52 or 13 episodes….? O.o Rawr. At this moment, I don’t really care. I only watched the first episode of this series. Only read the first book of the manga. Most definitely would stick with the manga than the anime version regardless. Although, this series hasn’t actually gotten my full attention. I’ll probably go random book shoppie if the next Kitchen Princess or Beauty Pop doesn’t come in, and pick up volume 2 of Shugo Chara. This is just one mahou shoujo story that is kind of…odd for me.
ANN doesn’t seem list any episodes schedules for 2008 yet, that explains why they don’t list more. Anyway, the first 6 episodes cover almost the complete first volume and some of the second volume of the manga. So if they wanted to cover the first 4 volumes at the same pace, it would fit about 26 episodes.
wow
so cute
thanx 4 review
52 episodes?That’slong and it’s great!
Because I like Shugo Chara very much!!!
I love Shugo Chara! both of them : manga & anime
52 episodes?that’s unexpected
But I guess it’s going to be…
FUN!!!like first 6 episodes
Amu has the Embryo?I thought she’s got four Shugo Chara and the last one named Dia,can explain about that part?
So,if Shugo Chara! runs out 52 episodes that means shugo chara! runs out 40 chapter, right?
