A building up episode, which was used to expand a bit upon the background of this series (ad it’s good to have a bit more information on what the Vox actually are), and to introduce the probably final major character of this series: the boss of the whole organization returns. So obviously she’s a a young-looking blond girl.
At the very least she’s proactive and gets things done, but we’ll see what the creators have in store for her and for that bizarre cross-dressing maid for the rest of this series. What also was a major point in this series is that Madoka isn’t going to be a pilot anymore. Now, that’s the kind of twist that really has me wonder why the creators pulled it. It’s not really going to make a point if Madoka just ends up ignoring all this, piloting her Vox anyway.
Overall, the direction that made me praise the first episodes of this shows has weakened a bit for the past few weeks. There were still some points where this episode was rather sharp, like with the maid, or the point where Madoka agreed to not pilot anymore (hence my worries for the next battle), but I don’t know… it lacks that energy that made it so addictive. Is this just a matter of building up (this is a Tatsuo Sato series, after all), or is this Xebec being lazy?
Rating: * (Good)
Woah the chick in the screenshot looks just like victorique from GOSICK. I just had to point that out haha
Careful. She could be a lot older than she looks. I get the feeling she might have first-hand knowledge of what the Rinne is capable of.
Major ripoff from Top Gun. Just had to say.
It was a nice homage to that scene IMO.
Nah. Not even close. XD It might have worked if they had a shot of them looking at each other through their cockpits at least.
Oh, snap! Forgot about the fly-by. XD I gotta go watch Top Gun again.
frankly I thought this ep was great o.o
it introduced new, interesting characters, had lots of revelations, and propelled the story forward.
On a side note I wonder what Lan’s going to do now that she found out the truth about “woof”
If she’s smart and really self-aware, she’ll pull it out to be sarcastic. 😉
A lot of my old theories got blown out of the water with this episode’s revelations. Trying to get things straight here. Can we can throw out Tadoroko’s explanation to the school about a galactic war out the window? Especially given that Gil’s team is negotiating with Asteria? It looks like Gil’s side and Moid’s side are competing over who get the Vox – and I assume the girls along with them, in order to activate the Rinne for some reason. Moid+Lan’s onnichan has Lan. Gio has Muginami. So Madoka is the tie-breaker?
Also, it is implied that the 20,000 year old incident might have been an accident. Aura went out of control? Moid got awfully excited that the Rinne activated, even though it’s something that destroyed Earth once. Hmm….
Btw, I think Lan’s greeting would work as an official Earth greeting….in places like Akihabara…XD
Hm. Got a question. Who’s the guy in the hologram talking to Moid? Is that Lan’s older brother?
I think the hologram guy is Lan’s brother. I’m still confused as to everyone’s motivations, this show gets caught up with some tongue in cheek stuff that I don’t think is necessary. Head chick taking every opportunity to feel Lan up. It’s funny the first time the 5th or 6th time in one episode is a bit annoying.
Haha. I think she’s just a bit sado and likes to get under everyone’s skin. Look what she did to the poor guy she “rescued” from captivity. XD
Now that was funny. I guess I am just sick of the clique’d “we drew boobies. now some character has to bounce boobies around” joke that’s been recycled in anime for so long.
I get the feeling that her doing that was less about fanservice and more to signal that she’s not one of the bad guys, in spite of what some of the other things she may decide to do, like ground Madoka, may say otherwise. And I gotta say it’s a reasonable decision, considering just about the only thing we know about the Rinne is that it destroyed human civilization on Earth once before. She’s a brand new character and a somewhat unknown quantity. Real curious to know how she’s acquainted with Gil. I think she represents the Earth side that wants to keep Vox sealed so the Rinne can’t destroy Earth again. I think Gil might want to activate the Rinne, but somewhere far away from Earth for his own purposes. Ditto Moid and Lan’s bro, who want the same thing for their side. And apparently something else is going on somewhere that makes them want to hurry.
and no one realized that the maid was someone from earlier episodes…
I’ll just stop right there and let the rest of you find out by yourself (trolling forums helped me)
So now there’s a “Lolita in a Position of Power” (LoPo, or “lope”) in all three mecha series: Mouretsu Pirates’ Princess Gruier, Chairman Crea, and now Asteria. Huh.
