That was yet again an excellent episode from Rinne no Lagrange. The creators had a particularly nice role for Muginami here, leading up to a finale that finally made the whole premise behind this series a bit more intriguing. And on top of that the artistic direction was particularly solid this episode.
Also, this show has found a very good way to keep me entertained during the quiet parts when it’s building up. The chemistry between the characters still is as sharp as ever. I’m referring to those small details, like Madoka getting lost inside the building for a while, or the way in which the officer forgot one of her hair curlers. The energy drinks were fun too. It all just brings life to these characters, much more beyond what you would have expected at first.
The battle in this episode also wasn’t brainless action, but instead really focused on the characters here, as the titular Rinne finally makes its appearance.
Rating: ** (Excellent)
I thought the fights left much to be desired. Anyways, I thought the episode was really pretty this episode too, especially the end parts. The writing has been good so far but from the previews I fear for the next episode(apples are sooo overrated :P).
After 6 episodes, I can’t say I’m really impressed with Rinne. Its definitely a very fun show to watch, with an almost seamless marriage of comedy and serious bits, but frankly I find this show just good without actually reaching any really amazing heights. as they say, different folks, different strokes eh? But I guess I’ll still keep watching if only to discover the truth behind those Voxes and also to see Moid get some just desserts. ;D
Going the safe route provides one of the reasons I like Rinne. It doesn’t try for something ambitious like Guilty Crown or Mawaru Penguindrum. Instead it simply tries to execute the story extremely well.
I like shows like that. It’s like opting really good steak dinner over some exotic 6 table restaurant with a 5 star chef and 6 item menu. Sure, the fancy restaurant’s cool but I’m definitely loving a big’ol steak.
To me, it’s more like a nice-looking steak that’s actually really disappointing and the waiters is annoying. But just as you resolve to not come back to the restaurant, they serve you a nice dessert that changes your mind and makes you want to come back for just one more visit.
Couldn’t agree more. Rinne to me is the most well executed anime of the season right now. It’s solid, it’s fanservice- and I HATE fanservice in anime 99.99% of the time- is actually appealing but not obnoxious, its characters pretty well laid out and the plot is simple. It isn’t breathtaking and doesn’t push boundaries, but it has such good execution that it’s actually quite fun and enjoyable to watch.
I think this series is excellent, but it has become too girly for me.
It’s not that I don’t like it, but rather that I wonder what I am doing watching it, if I should not be going outside, etc.
At least by my rating scale, Rinne is somewhat lagging behind the other big loud sci-fi shows this season (Mouretsu and Aquarion) but by no means does that mean I don’t love watching it. It’s quality work, and this week really punctuated the threat to Madoka’s hometown by having Villagiulio’s megabeam *JUST* miss Nuvomundus HQ but still cause a minor tsunami. You do NOT want that beam anywhere near the town – there will be significant casualties.
I’m 100% on board with Madoka, Lan, and Muginami, all of whom get more development every week. It’s the enemies that are holding this back. Who are they, really, and what do they want, besides simple world domination? From his ultimatum it would seem Villagiulio wants the Voxes destroyed, but maybe he knew that wouldn’t happen, because it also seems like he wants the Rinne to bloom, like it did this week.
Moving forward, I wanna know: what is Rinne, who does it benefit more (Moid was just as happy about it as Villagiulio), and how will it change Madoka?
What is it with this show? It sucks for almost an entire episode, then does something kind of interesting in the last minute or two so that I can’t feel utterly insulted by how bad it is. Either this is brilliant trolling, or really desperate storytelling.. I just can’t which yet.
