I’m not sure what exactly this series has done to only warrant very low quality releases like this, because after last week’s cheese the show really is as good as it once was, and it really deserves some files of higher quality. Ah well, while the cliff-hanger of the previous episode ended with a bit of an anti-climax, the rest of the episode really rocked.
It really was meant as an episode to strengthen the bonds between Oz and Gilbert, who distanced himself from Oz out of the fear that he might not have liked the way he changed, and Oz and Alice, who has been continuously wondering whether or not to trust Oz, especially now that he seems to have found his childhood friend back.
In the meantime we learn a bit about Alice’s past as well, which indeed seem to have taken place in the house of Bezarius. The person she once was with looks like another member of the Bezarius-family. A hint is given that we’ve seen the guy before, but I can’t exactly place my finger on when that happened. And we also learn that there’s another Alice, who my guess would be was either the one Oz met in the first episode, or responsible for Alice’s memory loss.
With this episode, the introduction now seems really over and the characters are established, so I’m curious to see what the real meat of the story will be about.
Rating: * (Good)
The cheese is gone, good character-development and the mystery got a little deeper again amount to a very enjoyable episode. Plus, that bunny looked awesome.
We’ve actually seen the guy in one of the earlier episodes… when Oz goes to the white place and gets told to find the truth (we see his hand and his silhouette).
Did I ever mention that episode 5 was my favorite? Oh wait I didn’t.
Still, forget it! Episode 7 is the best! (story-wise)
Will of the Abyss is just pure insanity *nods*
Whoever her seiyu is, she did a good job in potraying an innocent-looking–but-insanely-possessive- white bunny.
Next episode will explain about why Break and Sharon look the same despite the time-skip.
Let’s say the bases are set for the actuall storytelling to take place.
To call the characters established yet would be an overstatement, but we know enough about the main 3 to get the story started.
I really need to read the early volumes of the manga again. I’m not quite sure Abyss no Ishi was featured so soon in her ‘human’ form…maybe I overlooked a panel back then because I didn’t search for it.
But yeah, finally the anime is taking up pace and is starting to look good. But I still wonder how they are gonna recreate the ‘僕のせいじゃない!全部人形なんだから!!’ scene…
The anime staffs are the manga’s fans so I guess they knew about Will of Abyss.
Damn story-writers and ED director to exposed the Will’s human form so early on…
I wonder if they’ll ever make it to chapter 32 with a lot of one-chapter paces?
I like the use of Black in this show. It makes for some much more stylistic shading than just applying some darker colours. The voice acting is also nice as well, it has less polish and really works.
And frankly, I don’t mind the video quality at all, since it actually fits the whole atmosphere of the show anyway, with it’s washed out colours and old enviroment.
The bunny was TERRIFYING.
Are you sure we watched the same episode? Because the cheese was most certainly still there, as prevalent as ever… Such a shame, this could be a remarkable series otherwise.
This episode is rather disappointing. In the manga, Oz killed the bunny himself by hugging it lovingly and then shooting it point blank. I really love the manga scene, especially how Oz was really cold blooded. It has much more impact that here where Oz has Gil do the dirty work. How disappointing. The censorship doesn’t allow a teen psycho to kill a bunny with a gun? I wonder how are they going to do the nastier scenes.
The laughing voices of the will of abyss and that pandora girl really annoy me. Why oh why “villains” need to have that stupid laughs.
@Anon
You’re the first guy who was truly disappointed with this episode LOL
Well, yeah, they didn’t let Oz shot the bunny which was a big letdoown =_=
I’m just hoping that they won’t remove anymore gore for the later episodes or an “accident” might happen
