Who would win, 2 competing gangster teams or one walrus best boi?! The rest of this post is my random thoughts and conspiracy theories, so bear with me as we hurdle towards our taxi conclusion!
So…..everyone, including Odokawa is an orphan, working for the mafia?! Which makes this a bit crazier, since the boss’s friend just lost their kid. I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that Donraku (dead girl’s dad) is funding the mafia orphanage. But Why?! My money’s changed to that connection being the reason for the murder – some kind of message, maybe? Also – the eraser is a figurine of the dead idol’s father! I just realized that this episode. No idea why that’s important, but I bet it is.
At this point, I’m just dying to know why on earth the Homosapiens are still getting screen time. For the life of me, I cannot figure it out. I guess they’re slightly connected to Donraku and Mystery Kiss – feels tangential at best. Maybe my boy Baba did his girl a solid and offed her competition?
Finding of the body really messed up Odokawa’s plans since Yamamoto dropped out, but he recovered NICELY with a solid move on the tracker. Granted, it was a pretty high risk move, but I guess the idea was Dobu and Skull Mask take care of each other – which they kind of did. I feel for Dobu here – he counted the same as I did on the bullets. I guess that means Skull Mask used a rock or something in one of the instances? A bit of a loose end there, but I’ll accept it – I was fooled too.
Yano stopping rhyming was an all time great moment in anime history. Boy, that crew had a disaster of an episode – body disposal fail, heist fail, rhymes turned off…rough times.
I can kind of see how the Animal Crossing knock off is coming into play – when Odokawa identifies Dobu in the profile picture, I can sense a connection. Still scratching my head on how that relates – the game doesn’t seem old enough to have to do with Odokoawa’s trauma.
Anyways, this episode was full of action and we can almost see it all coming together. I’m hyped for the finale! Land it and Odd Taxi is this year’s Deca Dence!
Second bit first, Dobu didn’t miscount bullets, but the one that hit him in the leg was probably fired from a second gun. Notice how the two officers at the beginning of the episode are joking that Little Daimon hasn’t shown up for work because he probably lost his service pistol. Dobu was shot both times by someone wearing a skull mask, but he doesn’t have Odakawa’s ability to recognize people by their shapes, and we (the viewers) aren’t shown the first shooter.
Then the first bit, my money would be on Baba too, except we still haven’t met one character: the mouse in the OP. No fair if the writers withheld a major plot character until the last episode, but it should be entertaining to find out–I thought Yano was going to be cliche when he turned up, but he turned out to be the best gangster of the season.
I had the exact same feeling when it comes to the Homosapiens and Baba in particular. It feels weird that they are still in the focus this late of the game. So I’m guessing that they are connected to the final showdown (next week) somehow, either that the final set-piece takes place in the area they’re performing, or that Baba is involved with the dead girl’s murder. The second theory seems plausible, but it still feels off for me, considered how the show appears to focus more on Kabasawa.
One other explanation about the missing bullet is that the bullet fired at Odokawa’s house isn’t caused by Tanaka but someone else. It happened off-screen as far as I remembered.
So who killed Mitsuya? The main suspect here is the replacement girl – as she clearly gain the most from Mitsuya’s disappearance, and she has some unknown connection to Tanaka. I doubt her involvement at the moment I can’t find anyone else who could do it? Maybe Baba and Yamamoto the manager have a long shot?
What’s exactly is Odokawa’s condition? I’m leaning on the big reveals that he sees real people as animals. Or else he might be suffered from psychotic break.
Who’s else will get their due in the finale? I personally think the Daimon’s twins, Dobu, Eiji, Tanaka and Yano’s plot are resolved last week. That leaves the Homosapiens comedy duo, the idol plot, Gouriki and especially SHIRAKAWA MIHO room to play. Miho is especially suspicious to me when she gets close to Odokawa. I kind of see her as the femme fatale and that doesn’t bring much confidence in her.
Will the show successfully deal with all its plot threads? I doubt so but based on the tightly-written quality of the last 12 episodes, I have high expectation to the finale.
