With the new villains, do hope that they’re going to be more than what we’ve seen so far, constantly smirking and trying to look evil. They don’t really seem like compelling villains at this point, and I mostly liked this episode because of the small charms of the rest of the characters.
Meanwhile, the rest of the cast is mostly plagued by that love triangle that is developing. I don’t like love triangles because they a) are annoying, b) get in the way of the more interesting stuff and c) never really go anywhere, and that really was the case here. I mean, Kana and Yuki-Onna alone have enough charms at this point, but those get completely wasted on that pointless love triangle.
I liked the parts around Nura and Yura. The art direction of Nura’s special powers was also especially interesting, but also the chemistry between the two of them really works, and it’s a bit of a shame that he seems to be leaving after this (great for the development of the rest of the characters, though). This show is still nothing special, but I have taking a strange liking to some of the characters in this show, most notably these two.
A bit of nit-picking time here… but… um… didn’t anybody notice those HOLES in a freaking building? I mean, no fire-alarms, there was nobody screaming… it just fell apart and didn’t seem to bother anyone who lived there.
Rating: * (Good)
I didn’t watch the ep yet, but from manga I remember that it was a very tall building that was still in phase of construction and thus empty so you come to conclusion that when everyone realized that somethign was wrong with the building, Grandpa and Yura were long gone.
Oh, and don’t mind the love triangle in this ep. I don’t remember seeing Kana and Yuki catfight like that since this scene (besides in an omake).
This episode was too slow paced to my liking, the whole introduction of the arc could have been done in a single episode, yet they spent two in doing so, not only this but some parts in the animation were poorly done this time.
It seems that next week is some kind of recap… Man đ I hope to be wrong on that, but at least that’s what I concluded from the preview -.-
I actually find the whole Kana vs Yuki suprisingly well done in this ep its played for one thing really and one thing only and thats laughs. I think its dropped pretty quickly as well soon anyway.
now this is where the story really gets interesting but too bad they wont be able to see the current arc unless they get more ep like bleach, naruto and one piece
This love triangle felt SO forced this episode, the two girls got along pretty well before this.
I was really disappointed with this episode, but there are enough good things in this show that gets me to continue to watch.
Hey Nayrael, which omake would that be? Very much do want.
Here are the links to all Omakes:
Omake 1: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=254872
Omake 2 (Dawn of Edo): http://www.mangafox.com/manga/nurarihyon_no_mago/c107.5/2.html
Omake 3: (Strange Story of Ukioye Middle School): http://www.mangafox.com/manga/nurarihyon_no_mago/c119.5/2.html
Not really much of a catfight in the 3rd omake (just Kana being irritated by Tsurara), but thats the most we got from a catfight since the events of this episode. However, both Kana and Tsurara react funnily to another girl đ
It’s not picking, this series doesn’t care about realism at all, especially at how characters react.
I mean the highschool friends have witnessed, been abducted and attack by freaking yokai for god’s sake! And they are calm, like “oh well there goes that, glad it’s over, no biggie”.
And everything else about it is generic. We have seen a generic set-up of the setting and now the actual plot starts which is pretty much summed up “Unknown enemy arrives” …Oooooh…
“I mean the highschool friends have witnessed”
They are in Middle School actually.
“And they are calm, like âoh well there goes that, glad itâs over, no biggieâ.”
What else should they do? Run around the town screaming and looking like freaks? Or maybe lock themselves into their rooms so that evil youkai wouldn’t notice them? Or maybe tell the world about it and get labeled as madmen? There really is nothing else to do but continue living like nothing changed… hell, most people in Real Life would choose that option as most people like to continue living like they did before.
“And everything else about it is generic. We have seen a generic set-up of the setting and now the actual plot starts which is pretty much summed up âUnknown enemy arrivesâ âŠOooooh⊔
Point being? If you can’t handle cliche’s, don’t watch it. Hell, the moment I heard about Nurarihyon no Mago for the first time and saw promotional pics, I knew that there would be many cliche’s here.
And just for your information: there is nothing original in plot later on either (not every author tries to be too original and many people don’t care about originality but about execution).
In other words, I can confirm to you that you will not like what comes after either so you can just give up, give it a low rating if you have an account on MAL and watch something that fits your tastes more. I think you are just wasting your time with this show.
Thanks broseph!
