Oh, that’s very cruel. That cliff-hanger I mean. They were about to dive into the core of the correctional facility, and Nezumi said to Shion that he’s very likely going to change after what he sees there. So yeah, we only have two episodes left for that. Don’t promise awesome character development when you know that you’re going to end in less than one hour!
Yeah, I may sound like a broken record and all, but that’s the thing with this series: it just is THAT solid. For the past nine episodes there have been no weaknesses whatsoever aside from the “big one”. Seriously, it’s been a while since I watched a series that was this solid, and whose only single problem was the fact that it was based on a much longer source material that it would never be able to complete. And to be honest, this had it coming right from the beginning with Seishi Minakami: he’s basically pulling another Shigurui here, which also was a rock-solid adaptation from beginning aside from the fact that it just refuses to answer one of the biggest questions of the plot.
What caught my attention the most was the near rape of the dog keeper. Holy crap, that was well portrayed. The acting was excellent throughout this entire episode, but she really stole the show there. How different is that side we got to see of her!
Rating: ** (Excellent)
Woah…woah. Sorry I’m not going to post anything too sensible right now but this episode was (@0@)
I’m actually afraid to watch the next episode not knowing what will happen or not even wanting to think what will happen. It’s definitely going to be something very sad no doubt. ;__; And of course I will watch it.
I really liked the part where Shion hears all the voices of the victims while under Nezumi’s protective cape, then he hears the baby crying. It’s like the part where Shion could feel pain like needles piercing his head when the wasp was within his neck at the start of the series. They are portraying what he is feeling so well in those scenes.
I have actually been thinking that Inukashi is a male and Shion just realized he is female…even though I have been thinking from time to time he/she could be either one anyway. Poor Inukashi.
Why can’t this be a 2-cour series? Why??? Crap like Shakugan no Shana is on its third season and this can’t even get 24 episodes!
I have this ridiculous speculation that the no6 researchers have synced Safu consciousness into the brain of a giant wasp or some other being o.O? I just want to know what they’ve done to her so I can stop this bizarre train of thought

This is why I came here today. Am I wrong in seeing that everyone thinks dog keeper is MALE, not female? I have always thought that char was a female pretending to be male and everyone bought it hook line and sinker. Did I miss a reveal? I saw a hint that Sion may realize it this ep. But im pretty damn sure everyone thinks dog keeper is male.
I so very much want to make a second comment, but I talk too much so ill hold off.
@alt: You’re not alone. The entire time I always thought Dogkeeper was female pretending to be male, so when Shion had his mini-epiphany it didn’t really surprise me.
The only thing that threw me off was when they started referring to her as a girl in the beginning. It might have been just because of the set up they pulled with that No.6 official, but part of me thought that they had realized she was a girl all along.
On the other hand, it doesn’t matter to me much. 😛 Yay for androgyny!
I never thought Inukashi was anything *but* a girl, and I never thought she was pretending to be a boy. If she is supposed to be, the writers weren’t doing a very good job at suggesting this…
Interesting. I’ve had more than a few qualms about No. 6, especially for the past two episodes – the sudden introduction of Elyurias and Karan’s mother being a founder of No. 6 were big points – but you do raise an even more interesting point, that all these problems are only caused by the pacing. If the novel was shorter or they heavily abbreviated the adaptation (perhaps with the entire removal of several characters), it would flow a lot smoother, and if it were 22 episodes long, there would be a lot more time for character development.
I still would say that No. 6 is hesitating – does it want to focus on character development, with the heavily implied yaoi between Nezumii and Shion? From the start of the series, their relationship has been gradually built, but for a brilliant execution, there’ll need to be much more time focused on their relationship. Alternatively, No. 6 could choose to focus on its plot and talk all Fractale-like about the meaning of life, etc. Yet, that’ll also require significant time and loss of character development, seeing as there’s absolutely no time left.
Time, time, time. The city called No. 6 doesn’t have it, the anime called No. 6 doesn’t have it.
