I like this show, but I do have a bit of trouble changing my expectations from what I expected it to be, to what it actually turned out to be. I expected this series to be a set of mind games with a ton of mystery and suspense. Instead, it doesn’t focus on building up mystery at all, instead of suspenseful it’s more over the top, and the mind games aspect of the show is rather held back by Yukiteru being a gullible idiot. But ah well, I guess that that was the intent of this show: it needed someone who can both walk into just about every trap laid in front of him, be wimpy enough to be dragged around so that Yuno can shine, and still at the times where it matters find his balls and act like a skilled action hero. It’s forced, but it does carry the rest of this series, and I do have to say that the new villains here are pretty interesting, with a possibility to be the most interesting villains so far. Yuno in particular was great here. Though was the underwear scene really necessary? I mean, this is no fanservice show. It’s almost if it’s a prerequisite for a guy to bump into a girl and expose her panties like that. And at the very least: if you’re going to do fanservice: make it creative. Pulling a scene like that only shows that you’re not really putting much thought into this. Rating: * (Good)]]>
Just a thought: Maybe you will like this show better if you watch it as though Yuno, not Yukiteru, is the main character.
Now…I haven’t read the manga, so I don’t know how the story was originally told, but from what little I’ve read about it, it seems that Yukiteru is the main character. Since episode one of the anime, though, I’ve suspected that Yuno is the true main character. Yukiteru may be getting most of the attention right now…but something tells me Yuno will be getting all the limelight in the latter half of the show. 🙂
Oh Akise Aru. Top favourite character with Minene and Yuno.
Yeah, Yuno is unarguably the true main character.
The problem is that it’d be almost impossible to give any honest window into her internal monologue, motivations, etc., without SPOILERING all kinds of SPOILERS that I can’t even allude to without SPOILERING.
So, instead, the story is largely told from Yukiteru’s perspective, but he’s not really the main character.
And FWIW underwear scene is in the manga. Would prefer it wasn’t there at all, or got cut, etc., but at least the show’s not adding any fanservice.
Oh fantastic. Not only does Akise have a startling resemblance to Kaworu from Evangelion, he’s voiced by the same frickin voice actor, Akira Ishida. LOLOLOL XD.
Akise is still an awesome character though :).
Good to hear Yukiteru isnt the main character, because I cant stand him anymore… Seriously, why do they always come up with wimpy leads? All he does is whine and cry, and its really affecting my enjoyment of the show
Ohohoho, the mind games have yet to even begin. It’s kinda like the author introduced 12 holders thinking he was going to make this epic with a bunch of long, awesome battles, then realized that take a bunch of time he didn’t have. Then decides to cut out some of the harder characters to work with early. The show is really going to pick up after this.
I was fine with the skits at the end but it makes me mad when they don’t do anything with them when they have some great side stories they could put in. Instead of lolmurumuru
Yuno is like Shiro from Deadman Wonderland. Prominent figures in the story , but not the main character.
You can dislike Yuki as much as you want , but it doesn’t change the fact that the whiney kid is the main character. At least he won’t be as whiney and weak in the near future.
I like Yukiteru. Yeah, he’s whiny, but he’s never boring. Besides, he has every reason to be naive/scared due to his nature, and at the same time, he never lets his cowardice fully control him. Unlike that Guilty Crown kid, who just puts me to sleep whenever I see him.
I lol’ed when the underwear scene came. I was like “well it wouldn’t be Mirai Nikki without a pantsu shot.”
Did Kaworu stumble into the wrong show? Even giving him the same VA? Still, loving it. Thought the episode was great and the panty shot didn’t even bother me as much as I thought it would upon others complaints. If there’s anything to commend the series on is it’s wonderful direction for that suspenseful atmosphere.
Oh wow, I did not know that Akise’s voice actor is Ishida Akira. And yet another confirmation that any character that man voices is flaming gay.
I can’t wait until Yukiteru stops being a loser.
I thought I was the only one getting tried of Yuki acting like a lil bitch.
