So in the end, Komari: a girl who couldn’t get over the death of her brother. As someone who tends to prefer characters with… at least a bit of independence, I do feel a bit let down. At least Fuuko and the Uguu girl had their reasons for having the minds of five year olds. Setting therapy aside, I really find her to be the most annoying Key character I have seen.
And yet, I actually really liked the rest of the cast in this episode. Riki was the only one who really was able to do anything, but I really liked the way in which everyone supported him. I also quite liked Riki as he tried to get Komari back on her feet. The story is here so simple that yeah, Komari did need to just get hit on the head a few times, so I liked their idea to do this with another picture book, and even though Riki was just terrible at drawing, I like how he still went through with it. That’s for me the biggest difference between the beginning of this series and Kanon: the Uguu girl also was annoying, but beyond that it didn’t have much else that caught my attention, making it a lot less bearable for me to watch.
I expected more from gramps, though. In the end he was also partially responsible for Komari ending up the way she did because he refused to help her, instead just staying away from her. He’s an important person in her life, and yet he just abandoned her under the pretext that she’d cry when he’d die. Well, in that case I’d better stop making friends if all I’m going to do is make people cry when I eventually pass on. This guy needs to be healed too here. Does he also have his own arc? I’d love to see that actually.
Rating: 4.5/8 (Good)
He actually does have a bigger part in the Visual Novel, but as you could probably tell they really rushed this arc.
well next episode we back to the common routh which we will see the rest of the female character to make them join the group like the episodes before komari story
Well, Komari IS considered to be the weakest character with the weakest ending in the Western fanbase (not in the Japanese fanbase, but I’d say that’s a matter of cultural tastes and context). If they do Haruka’s route next, I can’t predict what will happen because I’m currently on the common route again, trying to get her route and ending next. We’ll see…
Being someone who had completed Komari’s route, I have to say that they really rush this arc which doesn’t do justice to some casts, especially the grandpa. in VN grandpa mentioned that the trigger is “death” and “blood” (as Komari’s brother vomited blood right on her face before he died. There was once the grandpa vomited blood in front of Komari and triggered her breakdown, that’s why grandpa avoid to see her again.
Yep, gramps had a bigger role in VN. He actually went through the same think Riki did with his wife… but he chose another path: he pretended to be her brother whenever this happened (which you can choose in VN as well… but it is considered Bad End).
Haruka’s route is next. One word for you. Forced. Everything about this next arc is forced. The characters, the writing,…everything.
Here’s a funny thing. How many people forget the main character had narcolepsy? Cause I remember playing the VN and when it popped up again I was like “Oh yeah…”
it not haruka routh in the next episode it only episode to recruit her to the little busters team
And they bring Kanata – so basically going into her route. I hope they will make it longer and mix with Common Route as it was irritating one.
Also Komari will go to background, till her moment of awesomeness later.
Here’s a very serious question. Why is Kengo always wearing his kendo-gi? It’s got to smell so bad……
