Here’s an interesting twist: Fam actually admitted that she was wrong when all she did was trying to figure out a way to bring the grand race back. I’d almost praise, her if it wasn’t for the fact that we’ve still got a climax left. I mean, it’s not certain, but there are an awful lot of arrows pointing into the direction that she’s going to be shoe-horned into saving the day and getting rid of that giant Exile that was activated in this episode. If the creators pull that twist, then all of this build-up would have been for nothing. It’s because of that that I’m not going to judge this series yet, because that ending will be really, really important for this series.
And yeah, this episode was fairly straightforward build-up. It was a bit strange when Luscinia just walked out with an unconscious Augusta and nobody found it strange, but then again he also holds a very high position. It’s the same here: if the ending is good, then this episode is also good. If the ending is bad though, then this episode was just delaying the inevitable.
Still, I liked that the creators succeeded in portraying that that doomsday weapon really is a doomsday weapon. These are themes very heavily lifted from Gundam, of all things and it makes me wonder why Luscinia spent so much effort in getting this war going if he could have just fired off that thing a few ties, but ah well: he has been proven to be a deranged ruler who believes that he can bring peace as long as he is the ruler of everything, so I probably shouldn’t look too deep into the meaning behind his actions.
Rating: * (Good?)
Oh gosh, it took this long for Fam to realize that… she’s been an insensitive idiot this whole time. Took her long enough!
not many comments here… did everyone drop this series already?
I only watch the scenes with Dio and Alvis. Can’t really be bothered with te story or the Jar Jar Binks main character any more.
It’s usually like this:
:: Download -> Skip -> Skip
-> Watch Dio + ALvis (if available) -> Skip -> Skip
-> Watch Next Ep Preview (hoping for Claus + Lavie, but often disappointed)
-> End -> Delete
hahaha, I guess I’ll do the same then, watch in skip skip mode ^^;
Not everyone who watches posts on blogs ya know.
well, i’m still watching it tee-hee-hee. but i got to say that i am a bit disappointed with how some parts of this one is turning out. for one, the series is titled fam the silver wing, yet fam herself is turning out to be nothing more than a spectator character. and i am a bit annoyed that after they gave hints about her backstory in the last 2 eps, they stop exploring it quickly. also, there’s a few more plot threads that they haven’t resolve ye. am thinking that they might as well add some more eps if they are really going to do this as 23 episodes.
yeah, the fact that fam is turned into spectator really dissapointing .. all she did is telling everyone to stop fighting T__T (she is kinda cool during the first half of the series though …)
I’ll continue to watch though .. even though i’m dissapointed, I kinda curious on how things will end
it makes me wonder why Luscinia spent so much effort in getting this war going if he could have just fired off that thing a few ties
You need subs. Past two episodes it seems clear that he’s not interested in conquering the world but is actually sincerely aiming for world peace somehow, with this mad scheme of his. And I have a feeling he’s planning to sacrifice himself to do it. And Lil bought into it.
It’s not very clear to me what Lil and now Millia learned from their links to their Exile but if I were to hazard a guess, I’d say it might be a summary of what happened to the planet that forced everyone to leave in Exiles in the first place and it looks like it might be happening all over again. I’m also guessing that Luc took Sara to the Grand Exile to be registered as the ship’s new… um… controller? What do you call those girls who have command over an Exile?
I have a few theories now about what Luc’s ultimate plan might be but there are an awful lot of inconsistencies, and I think they’re saving the big reveal to the very end. I’m still not sympathetic. The amount of damage they did just doesn’t justify it, especially since even if Luc were to sacrifice himself, it probably wouldn’t change things as he might have hoped. I’m kinda mad at Lil for not slapping him around a bit and showing him some sense. I would have expected her to know better.
Also thought it was very weird that Dyan was spared, considering what she’d done, along with what the Aden Guild members’ standard MOs were. I care about her character but it just feels inconsistent. Why would they spare her, especially after how callously they’ve gone after other adversaries in the story? She did have a very poignant and important scene this episode though, linked to what seems to be the central theme of this story. And it’s not clear if she survived what the Grand Exile pulled off. Where were they again? Were they still at that fortress or at Aden’s capital?
And why were they still after Alvis? Millia had control over an Exile now too (er…although she’ll probably need Dio’s help to use it). Hm…
It’s kinda creepy. I get the feeling all the stuff I ranted about before several episodes ago seem to be happening but in a different way. I’m a little bit shocked that Vasant bought it.
Also, about shoehorning Fam – I think they HAVE to do something that puts her in the spotlight for the grand finale. I mean, she’s the title character of the entire show. She has to somehow pull of some miracle that will give this show an epic ending. It’s just a matter of how well done it will be. She can save the show, if it’s done right.
Real riches will be the riches possessed inside.
The fastest way to succeed is always to look as though you’re playing by somebody else’s rules, while quietly playing through your own.
What the hell? The exiles are supposed to be colony ships… so far they’ve only been used as weapons through sheer force (dropping them) or using those defensive/utility tentacles…
Now all of a sudden this Grand Exile has a freaking super death laser?
I think Luscinia had to get through Glacies to get at the Grand Exile — that’s what the fighting has been about. First, attack Turan and capture Liliana, to get an Exile to use for the next step — getting past Glacies and its Exile.
Apparently the Turan Exile is a different model, and Liliana did not serve as a key for the Grand Exile, so Luscinia had to return to get Sara. Alvis might work — or at least Luscinia may think so.
I suspect that we’ll soon learn that Fam is the true key to the Grand Exile.
