Holy crap! The ending of this episode was just perfect. Overall it was a bit of a weird episode, full of the hormones of teen-aged girls. That alone was quite enjoyable in how the creators managed to portray it, but the thing that all of that was building up to was even better: Nanami (there are quite a few characters named Nanami this season by the way… which is quite confusing) actually gets mercilessly rejected by Tomoe. After all of the romantic hints, he has no intention whatsoever to become romantically involved with his master.
On top of that, this episode had a really good director working on it. I mean, this series usually has very creative and varied camera angles, but this episode was quite special: the variety in shots really impressed me, and it brought out a lot of emotion from the characters, even more than usual. When the entire point of this episode was romantic angst, it really helped to bring this episode to life with Nanami’s feelings being thrown on a roller coaster.
And then there was the ending of the episode where Nanami was first dragged on top of a building, only to fall off it. That’s where the direction really impressed me, because it really managed to portray Nanami nearly falling to her death. Oh, and on top of that, I also found out that Akitaro Daichi has been personally adapting the script for each episode. That definitely explains a lot, and why this show is so incredibly consistent. I mean, I have hardly seen one weak moment in the characterization between the characters.

That ending really had a great impact, and that was a very refreshing confession. I was expecting she will deny it because she had some tsundere streaks on her, but she surprisingly didn’t.
Tomoe dropping her really implied that he did think of her as cute, and I think he was too shocked lol. I like the blue puddles against white background. At some point they’re engulfing Nanami like an amoeba, and sometimes they just creep out somewhere…I can’t understand the symbolism though. Something about water? =.=
I personally think this was the strongest episode yet, though I have to admit that I haven’t noticed many flaws at all since I’m so busy enjoying myself with each new episode. The characters are just so dynamic with their personalities and interactions.
Having read some of the manga, I’m looking forward to seeing where the anime will end, even as I keep hoping that there will be a second season sometime down the line.

Ending was pretty good, I love how they use traditional music and instruments, like the drums during the falling scene.
Was hoping Tomoe would keep his long hair though.
This show just gets better and better! God, if this has a good ending it may very well end up as one of my favorite of this already great season!
I’m really curious as to how this show will end considering that the manga is still ongoing. (It’s only 12 episodes right?)
I absolutely love this show- the art, character development and story are all good. Most importantly, I think I love this show because I really like the director, Akitaro Daichi. Homeboy directed Fruits Basket and that’s one of my favorite animes of all time.
So yeah, I’m definitely watching this show to the end. Here’s to hoping that they make a second season! 😉
A wonderful show. One of my faves this season. Loved it so I went on a marathon binge of all the manga chapters available online….I just had to know what happened next. And now, I wanna know what happens next. 😀 Hubby enjoys it with me, too, which is nice. The humor works for me, and the characters engage me.
And both the Op and Ending songs are fun as heck to sing along to. I always look forward to that. It’s a plus. It’s horrifying when there’s crappy themes (or at least crappy to my ear). When I look forward to and don’t tire of the songs–like I loved the ones used in Higashi no Eden and Un-Go and GITS: SAC– big bonus.
I also enjoy Psycho Pass and Shinsekai Yori, but dang, those are dark. Love Magi, which has humor and that utterly winsomely charming Aladdin. Also keeping up with Zetsuen no Tempest and “K” and Robotics;Notes. I thought this season would just be only maybe 2 to 3 animes I’d follow, but I’m following a lot. 🙂
