I have moved!

And at last, I managed to buy my own domain. Please everyone, update your bookmarks quickly because psgels.blogsome.com will go offline in a few days.

There are still a few things I need to tweak here and there (for example the links in the top bar aren’t the right ones yet), but I’ll update those along the way. This really is a site that I can fully edit from top to bottom, so I’m really going to use it once in a while to try out something new. I’ll be able to do much more with this site this way, so if you’ve got a request for a new feature: don’t hestitate to ask.

As for new features, I added two new widgets to make navigating to the latest posts and reviews a bit easier. I also made the theme a bit more spacious, and added an actual shoutbox (let’s see if this one’s better than the CBox I used to have).

This was a bit of a rush job, so this site is a work in progress (December really is a busy month for me, with the site move, me actually moving out of the house in real life and the upcoming 2011 summary again). Don’t hestitate to comment on what you think of it, though.

  1. Nice! Looks like you managed to transfer most things across. My only comment would be if it was possible could you shift up your review index above the finished series. Persionally I love checking out what you have reviewed.

Anyway .. condrads on the move 🙂

    1. Ack, that’s not something that’s easily fixable.

Don’t worry though: I have plans to create automatic review indices, so that I don’t have to manually update them whenever I make a new review anymore.

    2. Actually, psgels, it IS easy to fix. Backup your database (just in case anything goes wrong), install this plugin, click CONTENT for search, and replace “psgels.net” with “psgels.net”.

Great to see you on your own domain!

      1. Thanks for the link. I’m subscribed! However, you really should have a link to that somewhere on the site. In the Meta section of your HTML at least (so we can just click the little RSS icon in our browser’s address bar). But I wouldn’t even know the feed existed if you hadn’t said so here.

Also, your subscribe buttons at the bottom of the page aren’t working yet. Just saying– not judging– I know you only just launched. =)

Also, LOVE your banner! 😀 It has a very dreamy beautiful feel to it, very anime like too.

  2. Really nice, better layout than blogsome and at first glance, i wouldn’t think it’s a rush job at all until you mentioned it.

    1. I at least approved the site with Imageshack. From now on though, I’ll upload all the images I need on the site itself, so the frog problem should also be history.

  3. Glad that you made it before blogsome is gone for good 😀
I think putting the index below the banner is a good idea too.
And all the best with the real life move too!

  4. I think we need timestamps so we know we’re not beating dead horses. At least on which day something was posted.

  5. Overall I like the new design and how you gave yourself a little more room to work with and also the gray backdrop for the content area. The only critique I’d have is that I recently switched to a widesceen monitor and the large blocks of white on either side really are harsh on my eyes

  6. Lovely website. I might be relatively new, but IS there a backstory to the glowing girl in the banner? She seems to have survived the jump. Tell us a tale!!

  7. YAY! You got your own domain! Cool! The layout’s somewhat similar to the old one, but it still looks good 😀

I hope you don’t use imageshack on your future posts though…. they don’t appear to me 🙁 Some “domain unregistered” error appears =_=

  8. Great news, not for the new site and or new desing, which i like by the way, but because you can continue your posts and reviews, keep the great work and thanks for doing it

  9. Good job, Psgels!

Speaking from experience, I know moving your blog or changing the software is a hassle, but it’s worth it in the long run!

Now you OWN your site. 🙂

  10. The new site looks really good! I especially like the fact you’ve kept your layout. Take your time though, there’s no need to rush 🙂 Btw, which fonts are you using now? The orange links look like Cambria (no change here), but what’s the font for the comments?

  11. Congratulations! as a long-time reader of your website, I glad you finally create your own website. Its great to sit and watch great reviews from you everyweek and then 🙂

By any chance, can you turn off the pop up at your old web?

    1. I will remove it as soon as I’m sure that that won’t screw google over. At the moment I’m still a bit puzzled on how to correctly tell Google to treat this domain as the main one.

  12. Love the new look!! The banner is especially cool. My only nitpick is the font. It seems a bit small. I only read your blog on my iPhone, and the font style and size are a bit harder to read on a tiny screen. Question. I have your website bookmarked on my homescreen on my iPhone, would it be possible to have your website have a app. ‘logo’ or design that the site automatically changes to when added to the homescreen? Like Amazon or Netflix does when you bookmark there website from the internet. That would be super cool. =) Keep up the good work!!

  13. Wow – site looks awesome! Way to get this up and running so quickly. Love the new banner and looking forward as always to your big, end-of-the-year wrap-up!

  14. Use Feedburner for the RSS-Feed. It can use your RSS-Feed to create a Feedburner-RSS-Feed that is independent from the specific domain name.

  15. Love the new setup, psgels, everything looks great. Just wanted to add, in case someone else didn’t already (haven’t read all the comments) could you add your rating scales to the Review Index? Like, which series you rated 90-100 and 80-90, stuff like that? I always liked that feature, so I could see what series you’ve watched alphabetically as well as which ones you’ve rated higher/lower than others.

Other than that, congrats on the move and take your time. 🙂

  16. I like the setup and I will give you one comment. Add space between pictures and text. But do it when you have time, the sites looks good anyway! Congratulations Psgels!

  17. I love the look, it’s really a step up I think. But how are you going to do a complete transfer of all your reviews?

  18. Love how the site still closely resembles the old one. My only complaint is that the comments no longer have dates on them, but its not important.

  19. Congrats! Been a follower of yours for a long time! I’m glad that you decided to continue to do your blogs and reviews. 😀

    1. The question is how to do that. I already included a meta 301-redirect in the header, but is that enough? I unfortunately cannot edit .htaccess in blogsome.

  20. Looking good psgels! I love the new “Latest Reviews” box: it’s very handy. The banner looks awesome as well!

  21. Wow, this site loads so fast!

Just one question – does your blog run on WordPress, so that it can track comments? It’s tedious, going through posts you’ve commented on the past day to see if anybody’s replied to them; or are there other comment-tracking things you’re using?

  22. Thanks a bunch for sharing this with all people you actually recognise what you are talking about!

  32. Howdy! This blog post couldn’t be written much better!
Looking through this article reminds me of my previous roommate!
He constantly kept preaching about this. I will
forward this article to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read.
    Thank you for sharing!

  33. Good post. I learn something new and challenging on websites I stumbleupon on a daily basis.
It’s always interesting to read through content from other authors and use a little something from their web sites.

  34. I’ve been surfing online more than three hours these days, but I by no means discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is lovely price enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you probably did, the net can be much more useful than ever before.

  35. You’re so interesting! I don’t think I’ve truly read through something like this before. So great to find someone with some unique thoughts on this subject. Really.. many thanks for starting this up. This site is something that is required on the web, someone with a little originality!
