Himitsu ~The Revelation~ – 03

I must say that Maki has a great personality as a leader. He’s scary, but not in the way that he loses his entire personality. This series has done really well to show that the guy’s got experience. I’m really glad that this season came with so many series with adult-characters. I mean, teenagers are nice and all, but seeing teenagers in every single series does go too far. The picture that these offer is just too one-sided.

In any case, this series really knows how to deliver its mystery well. The picture that the president shredded turned out to be the one of his daughter’s fiancée: Ross Macaulay, who turned out to be a terrorist. The president didn’t know any of this, until the guy delivered a note to the president, telling him to meet at the lighthouse. When the president got stabbed, he realized that his daughter was dating a wrong guy, and yet he tried to protect both her and her fiancée by shredding the picture of him that he carried right before he died, in order to lay as little connection as possible between him and Ross Macaulay.

Aoki realizes this, because he’s in the same situation with his sister. She too is dating the wrong guy, and yet he can’t get himself to separate the two, and he’s always watching from a distance. The great thing about this episode is how everything comes together, and yet it does force you to think about the case. And that’s EXACTLY why I like mystery so much.

  1. Looks good..I’m still stuck though at episode 1. But I’ll wait patiently, because this series deserves so much. And yeah, seeing all kinds of teenagers in so many series this spring can get pretty tiring..Watching himitsu really is like a breath of fresh air. Thanks for blogging this xD

  2. Oh, this episode is far more complicated than that… it was dealing with taboo loves. The similarity that Aoki saw between him and the president is that he harbors feelings for his sister, in the same way the president harbored feelings for Ross Macaulay himself. He died protecting his very secret, the fact that he fell in love with a man.

  3. Just watched the subbed episode. That was a long wait. Hopefully more fansubbers pick this up. Anyway, i agree with usagijen. The way the president was looking at her daughter’s boyfriend was not normal and the way his eyes strayed from this face to his chest, and down below was surely an indication that he wasn’t just curious of him, but rather, he was attracted to him. Taboo, yes.

I love how the episode ended with the revelation that maki was the one who killed his best friend. For some reason, i like the smug maki much more than the smiling one.

  4. Dude, your blog and summary suck! It’s completely inaccurate. First off, the President didn’t rip the picture apart because of his daughter. Second, you completely left out the part of the end of the episode when it was revealed that Maki shot his best friend. Next time, wait for the sub before you blog so you can actually write an accurate summary.

  5. @ sakuragi

psgels does not exactly write summaries, but rather his/her thoughts and interpretation of the episode. If you read inaccuracies in the post, be kind enough to correct him/her. Your criticism is out of place IMHO.

  6. you know reading this make a lot of sense. Because of all the wrong message and comment I read about this esp. about the president being gay and sister-complex. make me think I don’t wanna watch this anime again. the part about sister-complex thing. Hate those kind of relationship.

Anyways, after reading this post. I understand is nothing what I thought. It was trying to protect the person they care. But again….maybe not. I might be right. I know I don’t make sense. I not good expressing my thoughts.

    thank you

  7. Ah, so comment 4 was one of the comments that made you do that awfully long summary in the Crystal Blaze Ep 8 entry. The childish thing to say is that he sucks, but the right thing to say is that he didn’t even bother to read more entries before judging you. xD

Great episode. Very well-executed, and lots of tension created.

  8. I liked this episode and I’ve seen up to episode 6 so far but after reading somone else’s commentary I had to agree it was odd. My thought: Did they ever say that Aoki understood English? I don’t think so…so I find it hard to believe that he could read anything being said or wrote on the president’s MRI scan. I’m willing to let it go though, becuase I want to see this series through to the end.
