Hanamaru Youchien – 07

Um… why is this series trying to become a drama?

This was an all-around ‘meh’ episode. It completely dropped the roleplay and stuffed in a ton of cliches that anime creators normally use when they’re out of ideas. The ideas of bringing Tsuchida to his hometown was nice, but we already saw Yamamoto in her bikini last episode. We already saw Tsuchida’s tsundere sister in the last episode.

The summer festival. It’s a staple of generic harems. A ton of girls who comment on how the lead character is nice. Again, a ton of harem series done that before. Fireworks? Been there, done that. And seriously, what was up with that shallow drama between Tsuchida and his sister. I’ve asked this many times before: why is anime so obsessed over brother complexes? It’s less common to have a younger sister who isn’t in love with you!

The adults in this series stood out to me because they were so down to earth. Well… not any more.
Rating: – (Disappointing)

  1. this only my opinion but i also dropped this anime since episode 5 , it was enjoyable in the first episodes but i don’t see more potential for this also the history look a lot childish , of this winter season i finally watched 6 new animes , sora no oto , durarara , dance in the vampire bund , nodame cantabile finale , ookami kakushi and katanagatari

  2. is response to your brother complex question, look for the answer to why they do that ridiclous tentacle rape, loli, incest, wincest, hentai, etc and the answer will always be the same……….catering to depraved otakus who don’t know any better?

from the childhood friend who wakes you up each morning and is annoyed that some other girl just dropped out the sky and taken my happy place

  3. Yamamoto is still ok… it’s the sister who’s the weakest link in this anime to me. Strangely enough, most of the real younger sisters I know never had brother complexes to those extents. Animanga creators live in a strange world, or maybe I do.

I wish they would focus more on the interactions with the kids (minus the love triangle, which is cute but I don’t think preschoolers are occupied with love most of the time!) and the weird/cute/darn things they say.

  4. was that a snoopy reference in the end? with Anzu playing the small piano kinda reminded me of a character in snoopy 🙂
