First Lustrum: Star Crossed Five Year Anniversary

Today, Star Crossed is celebrating its first lustrum: it’s already been five years ago since I made my first posts here (very fanboyishly crappy posts, if I may confess). Like all previous years, I always do these anniversary posts with some statistics and amusing search terms:

General Statistics:
Up till now, I’ve made 3822 posts and regularly blogged 139 different television series.
The site has been received 5147999 unique visitors, which consist out of 2912603 first time visitors and 2235716 returning ones. This year alone the site got 863064 first time visitors and 891717 returning ones, and this was the first time since the creation of the site that the amount of returning visitors was larger than the amount of first time ones, so I really want to thank everyone for coming back here.
27075 comments have been posted (again, many thanks to everyone who posted one).

    lol.

Gotta find this blog through some ridiculous search term to make next years list!

  2. i went to saw a sea – You would have needed a pretty big saw in order to be able to do that…

    lol that was funny

  3. The question that always goes through my mind reading those search terms is ‘how on earth did they reach this site?’

Congrats on 5 years! There really aren’t that many bloggers that go on for quite that long, so long may it last

  4. OMG that was hilarious… Wow, human stupidity never ceases to amaze me

I specially liked the instant messenger ones… Ah, at the rate Google has been growing, I wont be surprised if it actually talks back in a few years 😛

  5. “how to write an email to yu aida – The author of Gunslinger Girl? Eh, find out his email address and send him a message?”

    If someone finds it,I’m a taker 🙂

As for ergo Proxy,I think it’s because the ending confuses the hell out of people so they go on the net looking for answers.

  6. Congratulation, and thanks for the amazing work your doing here.

I’ve been reading this blog twice a wee since autumn 2007, and always appreciate your comments, which are interesting and quite detailed. It’s, by far, the best anime blog I’ve ever read. It must take a lot of your time, and I’m really grateful for this.

  7. Your comments on the amusing search terms had me alternate between rolling on the floor laughing and crying because I can’t stop laughing. Congrats on sticking with the blog for five years, may you experience another five just as successful. I may not always agree with your assessment of the series you watch, but you always have something interesting to say and you are not afraid of going back and watching some of the old classics (and plain old series best left forgotten).

  8. Congratulations. I hope that your success will continue in the future.

This doesn’t mean I agree with all of your comments or reviews -no, not by a mile- but I’m quite capable of appreciating your better or at least more interesting posts, particularly when you’re covering relatively obscure series.

I absolutely respect that, regardless of how much certain specific statements might make me shake my head. Then again, life would be boring if opinions were universally uniform, no? Variety and diversity are also valuable.

Here’s hoping you’ll keep up the good work.

  9. congrats! I can’t remember how I ended up here a couple of months ago…but its been awesome. I was one of those who saw just one anime, tried to find others like it and watched a few more then hit a wall….sounds completely cheesy, but your site has shown me a lot:)

  10. Congrats psgels!

I began following your blog for FMA:B and have returned ever since then. Your posts are always interesting and easy to read! 🙂

LOL, lots of your series are rated 85 or 82.5, so I’m not really surprised of those search terms with these numbers.

  11. Congrats!! Just started following recently and liking the reviews.
Those search words are hilarious =D. Interesting to see what other people search for on Google

  12. “famous girl with a p in frontname and h in lastname – Again, Google is no crystal ball or anything…” Paris Hilton i guess… but that is not the point. Congrats psgels! Hope you can achieve to a decade.

  13. Congratulations!

I love how #5 on your top google keywords is “that anime blog”.

I always get jealous when I read other anime blogs that get fun search terms, mine are always so boring. And no pressure, but I’d love to see another 5 years 🙂

  14. Wooo! I’d also like to say congrats on your 5th year. Keep up the awesome blogging! =) The 10th year will be so awesome. *_*

Time must be flying though; feels like yesterday when you made a post like this last year. @_@ Hilarious search terms btw..glad none of mine ended up on there. =P

  15. Congratulations on your 5th year! Lol at the search terms and props for not being lulled by the idea of vegetarian = healthy. Humans are omnivores for a reason ;p

  16. Congrats! I’m not a regular commenter, but I read your posts often, and I have to say it’s an awesome blog… and it’s even creepy how much we agree sometimes… So there, congrats, and here’s to another great 5 years!

  17. Congratulations!

And what the HECK at some of those search terms. xDDD (Also, not that anyone cares, but Italy from Hetalia isn’t gay because as personification of countries, they don’t have sexual orientations. It’s an implied Word of God thing.)

  18. Congratulations on your 5th year!
Keep up the good work, I look forward to all your interesting posts in the years to come

  19. Congratulation PsGels. And hail to your blog for another more lustrum (btw is that latin?)

PS: The top 20 google keyword killed me. I’m at work and am trying not to lol too much. It’s a pain to resist laugh when you cannot do it free!!

The moronic math questions were so lulz. Are there more of them?

The lala la thing definitely put me KO x_X

Now i’m writing something too for next year top 20!

  20. Actually, if you search for “asdffgmj” Google will change it to “asdfghj” by default and you won’t find a link to your blog.

If you search strictly for “asdffgmj” all the hits are on your blog because of posters who used it as their posting name. o_o

  21. Congrats man
Your blog is, by far, the most interesting of the internet. Your reviews are well written and if wasn’t for you i would never watch fantastic shows like Baccano, Ergo Proxy, Tokyo Magnitude and Dennou Coil, since i never heard about any of them on the net, except from here. Thank you for digging up “unpopular” shows for us, viewers, and congrats for the 5 years

  22. Congratz!!

There are plenty of blogs posting about the most mainstream shows, but only you seem to enjoy and post about animes that made me go:”WTF, why nobody is bloggin this?”.

When I thought that, the answer google always gave me was: Psgels IS blogging it. This happened often enough to warrant your site being followed via your RSS Feed (I only follow three sites, yours being one of them).

Thank you very much for that!

  23. Always wanted to ask,but does an anime blog provide some money to its owner? It would be great if it did, but I never managed to get any answer.

  24. Congrats on your fifth year, and keep up the awesome reviews, i have watched many shows because i found about them from your blog (both old and new animes) .. keep it up (specially with your reviews of old/obscure animes .. i enjoy these the most) ^_^

And thanks for sharing those hilarious search inquiries … it’s amazing how some people treat Google like some holy oracle with a magic crystal XD

  25. congratulations psgels! for your fifth year! i’ll keep reading your post wherever I am….

lol that search words seriously are hillarious

  26. Congrats, and keep it going!

I’ve got to say though, these kinds of stats give a whole another level of meaninglessness to the much-hyped Aniblog Tourney.

  27. I am a little late but congrats on your 5 year Anniversary. Of the episodic Anime blogs yours is by far the best.

I hope to see you celebrating your 10 year anniversary next.

  28. My apologies also for the lateness, but…a massive congrats psgels!! 5 years and still going strong, eh. Not that I’m surprised, I know I can always rely on you for fast, thoughtful and fun posts (though I’ve no idea how you keep it all up as a single blogger, you must be superhuman or something, lol).

I can’t believe people actually tried asking Google/you how to make a dollars gang (oh, the awesomeness of Drrr!!). And I remember all that spoon spam on the Occult Academy posts, which is just one of the many random things I associate with that random show. 🙂

And finally… woohoo – we made your top 5 Google keywords! (I’m guessing maybe due to our Quarter Final match and our tourney vid, but probably not, lol.) Anyways, congrats again on the 5 years, and here’s to another 5 more! 😀

  29. ROFL, those comments are hilarious! I can’t stop laughing.

Congrats for the 5th years, btw! I most appreciate your Dennou Coil review as it got me into this wonderful series.
