Finaly! After two weeks of waiting (those bloody olympics!), Eureka Seven Ao is back! And it still stands out as a very entertaining action series with hard-hitting plot twists. I again went wtf the end of this episode when it became clear what the creators were building up to: completely erasiing Goldylocks from existance.
Again what I like about this series is how vague it is on what’s real or not. This episode also had these strange dreams, but how real these were (whether they were just simple projections of Ao’s fears, or something more) is also very vague. Not to mention that giant superweapon that Ao pulled out of nowhere: what does it actually do? Does it remove people from existance, or was Goldilocks never there and was everything before just an illusion?
Surprisingly, this episode didn’t have Truth in it. Instead the main enemies were the Secrets, which surprisingly were revealed previously to be not as bad as we thought they’d be. Also, what was Naru doing again at the beginning of this episode? My memory from three weeks ago may be have been failing me on that one.
Beyond that, this show knows its action: it often uses this technique known as the Itano Circus, which basically is showing a huge amount of bullets and following them through complex camera movement. Add that to the techno-soundtrack, which I actually think fits better compared to the soundtrack of the first Eureka Seven, and you’ve got the best action of the season by far.
Rating: 5/8 (Great)
I liked this episode’s Itano Circus! It was eye candy to me!
Was Naru trying make the secret follow her or trying to destroy it?
I love Nakamura Kouji’s work in general, even though LAMA did not exactly turn out to be what I hoped for being a fan of SUPERCAR… but his stuff, including the OST for this series, is far from being techno.
Anyway, seeing AO being as awesome as usual after the wait was great. I just wonder where they are going with all this… BONES tend to screw up series in their final moments. Or maybe we do get a second season after all. Which does not save any series from failing per se, but let’s just hope for the best and that they aren’t rushing anything.
Well, Truth used the firecracker to launch ballistic missiles that made the quarts capsule go out of it’s intended route… so to say that he did nothing is a bit unfair.
Great series, its making me cringe though, with all of the story aspects that are coming out. Ao doesn’t belong in the past to begin with, the Scub DO take over the Earth, if Ao messes that up he will kill Eureka and and the same time kill himself. As far as all that is concerned, I’m certainly a tad bit confused.
I’d be pissed if this whole thing is a dream sequence, since AO slept twice during a period in which he supposely cant sleep
Great to see this back 🙂 I’ve definitely enjoyed how the series has developed everything so far, as said hopefully it’s not rushed from here 🙂
Uhhh I thought he just moved into another world (parallel dimension earth) that just didnt have the goldilocks team in it. . .(as evidenced by that big pillar of light at the end of the superweapon attack (the same one used by Eureka to go back to her reality…))
I hate Itano circus. Every single anime with some kind of air or space battle seems to use it at some point. Along with the “one shot ten thousand enemy explode” maneuver, it just cheapens the fight scenes. You know all those missiles or lasers zigzagging around are never going to hit anything, and their targets have to pull off some pretty ridiculous evasions to dodge.
I think it’s actually more suspenseful to use fewer projectiles but make them more deadly – tone down the over-the-top acrobatics from both the missiles and their target. I think the Berserker/Gilgamesh air battle in F/Z was doing this right until they pulled the same ridiculous stunt with the missiles suddenly turning 270° in the blink of an eye, and then it just got stupid.
Uhhhh. I’m still completely in the dark with this show. There just too much happening too fast that it all just feels a tad overwhelming. Maybe if the show was as long as the original Eureka 7, it wouldn’t seem so jumbled up.
I often here people complain about fillers that dont have much to do with the main story. That’s like when you dont take enough medicine when you’re sick.
Well, here’s a case of overdose XD.
Look how much “story” they’re throwing at us.
It’s delicious I gotta say, but can be quite…overdosing lol.
