Plot build-up! And it’s the good kind of build-up that has enough interesting things to do while the chess pieces are all set right. This episode was necessary to confirm a few things: the secrets indeed have been different from what was assumed. This episode confirmed this by revealing that these things are sentient, and that the Japanese government has managed to collect a living example of this.
The characters instead were the ones who made this episode interesting, using Ao’s complete change after meeting with his mother as a catalyst to show different sides of a lot of different cast-members. Ao in particular has really changed in how he views his responsibilities, as shown by how he tried t get these sleeping pills. In this episode it went to the point of taking this too far, where he desperately wanted to live up to what he thinks are his mother’s expectations.
Also I’ve probably mentioned this before, but Fleur’s father has to be inspired by Ikari Gendou from Evangelion. He’s not as extreme, and there have been points in which he has been fleshed out quite nicely as a father figure, but in this episode he revealed where exactly he has been taking the Quartz that he has harvested. What I find interesting is how, even after the revelation that the Secret aren’t exactly evil as long as you don’t get in their way, he still is more intent on destroying them, rather than the actual scab coral.
Rating: (Excellent)
I’m pretty lost at this point. I’m not sure what to make of the story now. Haha.
I’m not sure I like how the secrets’ new sentience is being played out. There’s something very off about how they just describe themselves as a natural occurrence. Right. We’re supposed to just buy that very simple but impossible to comprehend explanation. It almost seems like a big fat lie. You want to play Protoss, fine. Have a back-story at least. I have a feeling the Secrets new sentience may be a trick by Truth to get Generation Bleu to expose their stock of Quartz so Naru can get her hands on them, for whatever she’s up to. I bet she’s responsible for all the Scub Coral “reactivating” too. A bit too hasty of Fleur’s Dad to reveal where all the quartz are hidden. ^^;
What I find interesting is how, even after the revelation that the Secret aren’t exactly evil as long as you don’t get in their way, he still is more intent on destroying them, rather than the actual scab coral.
I think the problem remains that the process of destroying the scab coral causes a lot of destruction, depending on where the coral happens to show up.
They are in the past, we absolutely know that the scub coral win, fast forward a thousand years or so and you get to renton and eureka
I suppose this is the foolishness that cost humanity the planet the first time around
I’m with meow on this one. Meow!
When the scab were “reactivating,” there’s a shot of Naru and Truth looking all BAMF right next to them. The “indeed, I know precisely what is occurring” expression. Or some sort of keikaku doori.
Absolutely no romance these days in AO — but given the circumstances, I suppose it’s more realistic this way. Oh well. I’m thinking he’ll end up with Fleur (at least temporarily, or until Naru reveals that she’s really a Good Guy(TM) and hooks back up toward the end).
Time to peel off some scabs…
Finally, AO lost on of his reckless “I’ll take care of this” bouts.
Gazelle is also becoming less like a side show character
I’m having a very bad feeling about Eureka, especially considering the not so subtle symbolism in the still at the end of this episode preview. I hope i’m just reading too much into it, though.
It was about time AO got over himself , still i miss his mother, I like the original Eureka Seven way more.
