Okay, so this is the long awaited moment in which Ryner “snaps” again. Is it as good as the third episode? Nah.
The second half of this episode was very intense, yes. But to me, it felt like it was trying a tad too hard to make Ryner’s life as miserable as possible, using too many cliches in the process. “Oh god, I’m a kid with lots of powers. I used to live peacefully with everyone but now that I’ve shown my powers after evil people killed my friends everyone sees me as a monster!” Yeah; been there, done that.
It’s a stock fantasy cliche, with not enough to deviate it from the other stories that use it. The reason why the third episode was so awesome was because it really was about the relationship between Ryner and that girl who was in love with him. It developed both him and her; it was well directed and just kept throwing in more and more interesting stuff. This episode was just there to show how sad Ryner’s past was. The enemies were also rather generic as well.
As a build up, I guess it suffices and it’s not like this episode was annoying like the one with that female captain, but this show has now reached the point in which I’m starting to get bored. Apparently, especially the later volumes of the original light novels are going to be awesome, but I first want to see that before believing it.
Rating: (Enjoyable)
well talking about light novel. the series is a long runner since 2001 and now have 11 volume form 1st series. 8 2nd series and still going. and about 16 side story. all of them in light novel alone which now sell about 3,700,000 copy. the series is been describe as a HUGE and COMPLEX in content. just go to wikipedia and see what i am talking (HUGE SPOILER)
It’s not that bad but I also kind of have to agree with Psgels. I really want to like this too, as I love the setting and characters but it lacks any substance/ story so far. Is it known how many episodes this one will have?
Shit, I thought it was awesome. I thought the bluff the two baddies had going where they wanted to see the dragon with their own eyes was going good (even fooled Ryner) and the fight was intense because for the first time Ferris and Ryner found foes they couldn’t beat straight up. Ryner snapping and doing his “World Wrecking” aura of destruction around him was also pretty intense, and the fact that he could unmake hero relics was a great reveal as well.
Judging by the preview of the next episode, you will have the relationship between Ryner and Ferris be the primary element that pulls him out of his rampage this time, so you might just get an episode that pleases you 😛
The episode wasn’t half as bad as some made it out to be. Generic, yeah. Bad? Nah. This series is like the sleeper hit of the summer for me. Hardly anyone watches it, so meh.
Since this is a 26 episode series, they’re just introducing characters. I hope they’ll start doing something with the characters they’re introducing in the second half though, or just focus on Ryner and Feris. The two protagonists of this show haven’t been getting enough attention, and that’s messing up the pace of the show imo. Hopefully, the second half will be better (I hope it racks up enough sales for a second series).
I liked it, I thought it was really good.
This was one of the best series came out this summer, and I don’t find it “generic” as you make it out to be. but each to their own taste.
