The building up of the first number of episodes has finally started to pay off. Until episode eight, this was just a show with a large amount of imagination and some interesting fights, but starting with episode 9, I started to really care about the different characters. This episode provided a great aftermath for that action-packed episode, with also lots of new information regarding the characters revealed. Isako really was scary in this episode when she easily took care of the Sacchi, and yet we see a total different side of hers when we suddenly learn that she’s got a big-brother-complex. We also see her visit her grandfather who is in the hospital, and it seems that she dislikes her grandmother, whom we briefly saw visiting him (at least, I think that woman was her grandmother). We should be seeing this brother quite soon now. In fact, something tells me that it’s that suspicious guy we saw at the end of the episode. Another interesting plot development comes from Daichi, when he and Denpa leave Isako. It’s quite surprising, but it does make sense. The look on his face when Isako enrolled him really showed that he’s very impulsive, and doesn’t think the things he does through. In this episode, he became scared of Isako, so he left. It was quite cute to see Denpa follow him. I also wonder what was up with Akira’s pet, who kept following Isako wherever she went, especially since we never see Akira actually controlling it. I’d like to know how he reacts, when she finds out that Isako has a cute side as well. We also see the identity of the mysterious Yonyon nii-san revealed. It was indeed the voice who talks to Yasako in the strange dream she had. It turned out that he helped her when she was young, at the same site as Yasako’s dream, when she lost Densuke. She then was so impressed that she promptly proposed to marry him in the future. I suspect, though, that she never saw him again after that, but this episode showed that the guy still has a huge impact on her, when at one point she wonders whether that guy may be Haraken. Of course he’s not, as he looked much older than Yasako at that time, but the question remains: what kind of relation does he have to Haraken? Since Yonyon is definitely related to both Yasako and Haraken. (By the way, a girl with a big-brother complex, a girl with a mysterious figure in her past who made a big impression on her but whose face she can’t remember? Am I the only one getting Utena-vibes out of this?). The only thing I didn’t manage to follow was the scene between Yasako and Haraken, concerning Kanna’s diary. It seems that the password for Kanna’s diary finally is found, and Yasako accidentally reads it before she can give it back to Haraken. When Haraken reads it, he somehow gets obsessed to find something, but I couldn’t quite understand what that was, and why he’d do that. He looked quite pitiful, though.]]>
where do you download your Denno Coil episodes?
if that boy at the end is Isako’s brother, why is he sitting with Yasako?
I get my releases from a program called Share.
Oh, and if you mean the last screenshot, it’s not Isako’s brother, it’s Yonyon nii-san.
That’s not her grandfather and grandmother, that’s her uncle and aunt (surely you know the difference between “oba-san/oji-san” and “obaa-san/ojii-san”) It’s reconfirmed by how the guy tells the other patient in the room that the girl is his niece and not his daughter. The brother she talks about is then might actually be her cousin rather than her real brother… I don’t think it’s the guy at the end of the episode because Isako seemed to mention “Onii-san is going to come back soon” more implying that he’s coming back from some funny place (I suspect Isako is gathering the metabugs to do something so that she can bring back someone, either her mother or her ‘onii-chan’). If he is alive and well and contactable as that photographer seems to be, it seems to me less likely that Isako would bother coming around to tell her uncle that. (Also, her uncle seemed to sigh “Onii-san, huh…” in a way that he doesn’t entirely believe that she’s really going to bring him back or something along those lines.)
Also, Daichi did not leave Hei Ku on his own, Isako banned him from the club because he didn’t manage to get the other groups’ glasses.
I think with the info Akira has gotten, the other people who are all suspicious and insulted by Isako will try to make use of her weak points as they appear (but probably not to a seriously damaging extent, unless it’s Gachagiri and co…)
As for the diary, Haraken was crying over it because it was basically Kanna’s last words the days before the accident: she realised that it was a bad thing to have argued with Haraken about the research project thing but regrets it because she wanted to stay with Haraken till the end – since she’s found out that her dad’s being transferred and she won’t be able to stay in the town much longer, and that summer (when they were both in Grade 5, i.e. a year ago) would be the last they’d spend together for now. She knows it’s silly to have believed in those urban legends about Illegals but she was convinced she had heard Chloe’s voice. So she says she’ll leave making up with Haraken to some time after she can come back, because it’s said that if you get close to an Illegal your closest friend will get cursed… She writes that she’s going to to the crossing and if she meets Chloe then she’ll say it to Haraken – that she likes him. She thinks she’ll say it to him when she returns anyway.
He sees a path drawn in her diary and insists on following it the right way in order to find more clues but Yasako tries to tell him that it’s getting late…
Ah, thanks for explaining. It seems I sought too much behind that cliff-hanger.
I do wonder, though, if Isako’s “brother” really went to some funny place, how she hopes to save the guy by collecting Kira-bugs. Up till now, everything that happened in the virtual world had no effects on the real world (although you could call the room Haraken was in in the previous episode an exception to this, perhaps).
I don’t think this “onii-chan” is her cousin, though. Or at least not the son of the uncle we saw in this episoe. I don’t think that a father such as him would react so calm on the message that his son could be coming back. Isako also doesn’t seem like the type of girl to just give out random nicknames. I still think that he’s her real brother, but I could be wrong with this.
No, he would react calmly because he doesn’t take Isako seriously either. She told him to keep it a secret from her aunt because she would brush it off as a lie and not take her seriously at all, which wouldn’t happen if her brother/cousin/whatever was supposed to come back normally… She’s just 12 and they probably have absolutely no idea about what she’s doing. If your son had disappeared/died years ago and you’re of a mature enough age to have accepted it long ago, and your eager little niece insists that she’s going to bring him back and won’t take no for a reply… chances are that a normal uncle would say “I see” or “That’s nice” or something neutral like that but not express too much excitement because he doesn’t actually genuinely think he’s coming back.
“Onii-chan”, for the record, is also hardly a “random nickname”. What do you think Japanese call their older male cousins? Not by their name alone, and not by the word for “cousin” either (従兄). It’s onii-san/chan/whatever as well. To differentiate between their real brother and their older male cousins that’s where the name comes in, but I don’t think it’s a rarity for Japanese to say “onii-chan” alone for their older male cousins if they don’t actually have a brother of their own. Especially since they obviously don’t want to reveal his name now.
There’s still perhaps the possibility that he’s her real brother, but I think there’s a higher probability of it being her cousin.

Hmm, am I the only one where some of the kanji here doesn’t show up properly? If I’m not, then could you please repost your comment in english, as I’m afraid that blogsome doesn’t support full japanese. 🙁
