Dennou Coil – 23 – II

This episode was absolutely amazing! Seriously, I was a bit pissed off at the sudden recap-episode, but the real 23rd episode was SO WORTH THE WAIT. I was already satisfied by the hilarious chase of Daiichi in the first half of the episode, but I still can’t believe the awesomeness of the second half of the episode. I remember noting earlier how similar Haraken and Isako are, and this episode again confirms it, as Isako gets taken to the other side on her own will as well. The only difference here, though, is that she didn’t just do it to meet 4423, but it was also to piss off Nekome and protect Yasako and Densuke. With only three episodes left, how will Dennou Coil conclude? Will the final three episodes be just about finding Yasako’s grandfather and Nekome, or are there people who have been coiled away who are going to make some kind of appearance? The thing also is that Densuke is gone now too! He was “killed” by the humanoid illegals. How is Yasako going to get to her grandfather? I’m assuming that Nekome is going to play a role in this. Also, this episode just rocked in terms of production-values, and it may be the most visually pleasing one of the entire series, while the rest of the episode was also among the best that this series has to offer. This really has been one amazing anime, but can the creators keep it up for the final three episodes? I definitely hope so!]]>

  1. lol i’ve been waiting all day for this review, now i can rest knowing that the awsomeness of dennou coil continues,i’ll probably read the spoilers in a month when ureshii releases the subs.(not bashing them, they do a great job)

  2. Denno Coil is going to be the best series of 2007!
Anyway, I kind of hope that Humiko comes back for the next episode……I miss the girl!

  3. LA: Humiko… she was the other female member of the biology-club, wasn’t she? It would indeed be awesome if she had some kind of final role in the series.
hssc: I use the program called Share to get my episodes of Dennou Coil.

  4. I’m still cheering for Densuke – to the extent of hoping that the next episode starts from his point of view. After all, the effect of being grabbed by the Nulls is to separate physical and dennou body, with the dennou ‘self’ then led off into the C domain. But Densuke has no physical body, so I’m hoping that what has happened is that he is now deep in the C domain getting ready to chomp down on whoever needs it.
Who do you suppose is the #1 member of the Coil Investigation Agency? Megabaa is #0, Tamako is #2. Could it have been 4423? Nekome? Megabaa’s memory of that time seems to have been seriously scrambled.
Up until Ep 23 I was thinking that MegaMass were the bad guys. Now I’m not so sure. It now seems that the original Coil group screwed up badly, and maybe MegaMass is making a best effort attempt to clean up the mess.
It’s more mysterious than ever just who or what Michiko might be. I can’t even make a guess.

  5. Tamako joined the Coil Investigation Agency after Mega-Baa rescued her from the other side, and I think that Mega-baa founded the Agency only after Yasako’s grandfather went missing (otherwise he would have had a number as well). I’m not sure if her grandfather was still around when Yasako met 4423, but I put my money on Nekome. Something tells me that the original purpose of the Coil Investigation Agency was to get Yasako’s grandfather back, and I can imagine how Nekome would want that to happen, since he considers him as his teacher.
