So, yes. Today’s episode is a recap. Don’t bother hoping for a bit of new content like with episode 14: there isn’t. Every frame of this episode was basically recycled from the other episodes. I really wonder why the creators had to include a recap at this point, so close to the climax. I mean, for a series with 26 episodes, three recaps is just too much.]]>
So… this is basically a 24-ep. series with one recap – not bad, eh?
Do they explain anything here? For ex, what Nekome and Takeru are trying to do?
Well, it’s basically a 24-ep series with 3 recaps. 😛
And while my Japanese isn’t perfect, I’m fairly sure that nothing new was said either. The episode was really aimed at children, and showed the important plot-events up till now.
ureshii says this recap isn’t counted as part of the 26 episodes.
here’s what they say:
“Dennou Coil will have 26 episodes and 2 numberless recaps, making a total of 28 airing slots. ”
“Episodes 23-26 will air starting 11/10. This means the last episode of Dennou Coil will air already in December.”
So this isn’t episode 23
I’d like to profit of this occasion to ask a plot question
I was rewatching episode 7 today and when isako and yasako are stuck together,Isako says that illegals eat children’s soul, then she says she’s joking, but not entirely right?
Umm… According to AniDB, this is a real 26 episodes show with 2 recaps aired as “TV Specials”.
Even episode 14 had some “new” material, according to psgels.
(Currently watching the show, I’m at episode 8 : this show kicks ass.)
” I’m at episode 8 : this show kicks ass”
uh oh,forgot my question was a bit spoilerish, really sorry about that.
Totoum: ah, that sounds more likely. Four episodes left sounds just about right to close this series off.

The way I see it, then all the rumours that have been mentioned in the series so far have some element of truth behind them. It’s basically the creator’s idea of foreshadowing. I already suspected this after the appearance of Takeru, but it keeps surprising me how much urban legends this show has.
I didn’t hear anything new in the narration. But I did notice something in the visuals that I missed the first time around. In the recap of the scene from episode 18 where Haraken steps through the keyhole, just after he steps through we see on the ground that distinctive set of 4 manhole covers. These are promiment in the intro sequence, and also appear toward the end of the end sequence. They seem to be what Haraken drew on a sheet of paper for Yasako at one point. But where are they in the real world? Do they appear on an actual street in the body of any of the episodes?
Also – any ideas on the significance of that bit in the ending sequence where Densuke walks through a bit of city buried in sand?
As others have said thankfully this recap is not counted as an episode. I guess you can count it as 221/2. 🙂
I am not sure but I think the TV station not the creators are responsible for these types of recaps. The only real recap for the show was episode 14.
