Claymore – 11

This probably is the episode of Claymore with the least amount of fighting. Heck, most of it was just talking, which is very nice for a change. It’s another very important episode, you wouldn’t want to miss it. The four Claymores were indeed sent to take care of the male Awakened Being because they’re problem children, and half-Awakened, and the four of them have become allies against the organization. A relative lot of time was spent on this, probably in order to really show the bond between Helen, Deneve, Miria and Claire. We also see something interesting in Miria’s flashback. We see the part where she half-Awakened (Deneve was there too), and then we see what is probably Claymore Number four, Ophelia, who keeps encouraging Miria to awaken. She looks quite scarily, but I think that she is the biggest reason. For Miria to turn against the organization, and while she never mention it, Miria keeps dropping hints that she hates that woman. We also see the identity of Claymore 3: Galatea. It’s the Claymore who spied on the fight in the previous episode, and her ability seems to be quite similar to Claire’s: sensing Yoki, especially from very far away. Number 1 seems to be Alicia, Number 2 is Beth and number 5 is Rafaela (wasn’t she the Number 5 in episode 5 as well, before Priscilla took her place?). So far, Claymore is good stuff, but there’s one thing that worries me: the fact that the manga hasn’t finished yet. Is there any sign of the manga finishing soon? The series may be true to it right now and all, but I fear what would happen if this series would get stuck in fillers.]]>

  1. #5 of Teresa’s generation was someone by the name of Elda, who was never shown. D=
As for the fact that the manga is still going, there’s plenty of material to wrap up the story, and it can be done in a very tidy manner as well. One could say we’ve got just enough content to give the series a conclusion, but the story can continue from there (a in few years maybe, since this manga is monthly).

  2. Ah, that’s good to know. Seriously, this series keeps surprising me by effectively avoiding all fears I have about it turning into standard shounen-garbage.

  3. Yeah I believe the anime is scheduled for 26 episodes, so there is no way that it is going to get to where the manga is at now. Most people have an idea of where it will end up stopping, and like the post above said, it is probably a clean spot to end the anime at relatively speaking. At least the ending wont have to be made up like a few other anime out there. I think it’ll be a lot like Berserk. If you’ve seen that anime before it ends after a critical arc, and then the manga continues on till today.
So I wish they could continue on, but that doesn’t look to be the case. It still should end on a high note though. Like I said last week, next week’s episode is where we truly get some action. As you see in the preview, Ophelia shows up. ^_^

  4. Duh…I hate Ophelia soo much, she is so annoying xD… i can understand Miria very well for hating this person, but you’ll see soon enough ^^
Well for the Manga going on, I hope the Animation does not make a senseless end, cause the story well get even more complicated….
    greetings
    prank~

  5. This episode was awesome. Like the rest of them. 😀 “Endless Gravestones” sounds like a promising title for the next one.

  6. Now I’m curious, currently there are 73 chapters and from the looks of it the anime has covered 30 chapters so far meaning they use on average ~2.7 chapters an episode. So at episode 26 the anime will basically have caught up, I hope they do what rikku suggests and end just after a critical arc, a timeskip would be a good place if there is one – they seem to be the “in” thing at the moment. Also the monthly manga magazine Claymore was originally in ceased production, so Claymore was moved to the weekly version so shouldn’t it become weekly now?

  7. It is interesting that Clare can seem to sense Yoki as good as the current #3, which means she’s getting closer to be as good as Teresa was. At the very least, that the distance she sense Yoki is almost as good as the best in the org.
I’m soooo tempted to read the scanlations, as the Viz tankobon are only up to 44, and I REALLY want to know what’s next. But I especially want to see Ophelia animated and her…”arc.” 🙂

  8. Yea there is a timeskip in the manga believe it or not lol. You can take what you want with that info. As for the manga it is still monthly serialized. It moved to a new Magazine but its still monthly. That being said the chapters, or scenes as the manga calls it are usually longer than a weekly manga, thus the monthly thing. Lets see this episode had the tail end of scene 29 and all of 30. So actually they have been pretty close to the pace of the manga, about 1 and a half chapters I guess? Gotta remember the beginning few episodes we’re actually going at a lightning pace, it has recently slowed down to the manga’s pace i’d say.
Anyway with all that calculation I still think that it wont catch up to the manga, and to be honest there is no way that it will. The manga is currently in the middle of a new arc (with no end in sight), so again that says it all.
If you can wait, it would probably be a lot more fun to watch the next couple of episodes animated. There should be a ton of action~

  9. There’s no way the series will finish the entire Claymore story considering the manga jump and new arcs coming up. Too much would be left unfinished unless they dues ex machina’d the entire ending for the anime.
