Short Synopsis: Casshern meets a painter who wants to leave his mark on the world.
Overall Enjoyment Value: 8/10 (Excellent)
Well, if it’s indeed true what CasshernXLyuze said, then this was the last of the “filler” episodes of Casshern Sins, and as usual it was a really interesting one. It’s about another aspect of a future of certain death: being remembered by others, and artists are of course the perfect example of this, hoping that even though their bodies will die, their art will live on forever.
Since the story takes place at a city that was once ruled by Braiking Boss, it shows another way of how robots have decided to live with the destruction: simply wait for it and kick the hell out of everyone who disturbs this order (ie: the painter).
I also like how the past two episodes brought an end to “Casshern the chick magnet”. It’s good to see that another episode is dedicated to a male robot. It really makes the series feel like less of a harem series because the creators favour females over males.
When the painter’s hand fell off, I thought to myself; “I guess he didn’t have enough conviction”.
I didn’t say that this is going to be the last of the “fillers”, I just said that the story’s gonna get rolling again with the next episode. With only half of the series covered by then, in no way am I expecting that there’d be no more fillers after.
Interesting note about the flashback before the OP. Looks like Dune was a witness to Luna’s death (?) and considering that Dune was mumbling it with such belief it puts a damper on Luna being alive.
As for the next episode well whether it gets the ball rolling or not it looks like Braiking boss is back.
Who’s “Dune”? The shinigami guy from episode 10? Wasn’t that Dio in the flashback?
I’ve just seen the subbed video and it kind of brings to mind episode 08. Remember when some of the robots are pissed off by the singer’s singing and there wasn’t really an explanation as to why? Now that I think of it, it’s the same thing with the robots who are annoyed by the sound of the bell in episode 07. Well, this episode finally sheds some light on that, much the same way the previous episode provides some insight as to why some robots haven’t started to ruin yet. At least, that’s how I see it.
Another thing I thought I should mention is how it has always been, more or less, “disturbing”, to me how the robots in this series reflect humanity. It’s like, it’s because of their likeness to humans that they’re suffering and miserable… I think I’ll just stop there.
At least Margo seems to agree that Braiking Boss was a tyrant. I think the whole series should go to more facts getting uncovered until everyone realizes that Braiking is the real cause of the ruin, although I doubt killing him is the ultimate solution to the story.
Yep Dune is from 10, compare the hair styles and eyes its Dune. Hair and eyes seem to match but I could be wrong. However, on examining 10 its not like Dio saw Luna’s death he had only arrived at a bloody berserk Casshern, while Dio’s sudden recollection of Casshern seems to match the blood scene of the flashback more.

Yeah, you’re right. My bad. I think the flashback in this episode would have been more appropriate for episode 10.
So this does pose a huge question. IS Luna alive? Considering the rantings of Dune, who appears to be a first hand witness that believes strongly Luna is gone. If so who then where did this Luna rumor come from, in fact I don’t think the show has mentioned a grave site for Luna.
In any case from what we know of the fateful event between Luna and Casshern is~
1) Casshern goes right through Lyuze’s sister and heads to Luna.
2) Casshern knocks out a torch and talks to Luna.
3) Luna asks him questions such as whether he truly wills for her death.
4) Casshern seems to have gone berserk.
5) Casshern attacks Luna (well she seems to have a frightened face)
6) There is something about Luna’s blood.
7) Luna falling into whatever that puddle that looks like blood.
8) Dune seems to be there and witnesses it, and based on his flashback Casshern approaches him.
9) Berserk mode Casshern is seen by Dio as he reaches Luna’s chamber.
That’s what I said before about the rumour regarding Luna; it’s got nothing to back it up. As someone else had already pointed out, Casshern simply has nothing better to do than to follow the only lead available to him, even if its just another rumour.
And you missed something in your list. In one of the flashbacks, Luna says that “Casshern is slowly changing her”. I’m sure that’s an important piece of information.
Does anyone know what the insert song played at the end was?
“Aoi Kage”?
This was by far the most powerful episode so far IMO.
