The next arc: Mirepoc. On top of that, Cigal returns, plus we get background on the mysterious bearded guy, who seems to have created an entire legend around him. I love how this show is able to interweave so many of its storylines.
Okay, so basically, Mirepoc is searching for the book of an actress who died eight years ago, who searched for the bearded guy who turns out to be named Othello. In the meantime, Cigal’s former lover also is after the same book for some reason. On top of that, we learn that Othello is friends with the invisible guy from the Church.
There are still tons of mysteries though: what is Mirepoc after? What’s getting her so fired up? What’s up with that other woman? Who the heck is Othello, and what is he after? Why was Winkeny after Hiza’s book? In fact, why is the church after the books of the Armed Librarians? The way they’re after them seems a bit more obsessive than simply for tactical reasons, especially considering that they’re intent on collecting every single one of them.
Also, I love what Volken has turned into. He’s been gone for ages now, and yet it has become awesome to just see his name mentioned. 😛
Rating: ** (Excellent)
I watched this with the “season’s greetings” fonts, and it kind of distracted me too much lol.
It’s nice to see Cigal’s minion get some notice, since I vaguely remember seeing her in a scene before. As for Mirepoc, I thought that she was fired up because of Volken. Even though she forgot about him, she still has the storybook and it’s probably bugging her why she had it. Also, Mirepoc might still have some lingering emotions left for Volken and is driven to find the reason why he left. Right now I’m probably taking things at face value.
Othello is pretty interesting, I wonder what he said/gave to Volken that made him take off that way. One thing I really like about this series is that events of an arc don’t just happen right before the arc starts 😀
I think the Church’s higher ups obsession with the books of the Librarians can be seen as them simply wishing to read a ‘good’ book. The lower members, such as Cigal in a sense, are indeed members but they in the end serve to just become good reading material (though of course we know his turned into disappointment). The librarians certainly do create interesting tales considering the criteria, that we see with Zatoh’s master whose name eludes me, which is a strong obsession to fulfill one desire. In this case to serve the library even to sacrificing certain emotions, such as what we see with Mirepoc.
Like Sanity said I figured it was Mirepocs feelings. Similarly this new woman seems to have feelings for Cigal as well, which peeked my interest when “Othello” said he liked both girls. (Both are good candidates to serve his legend)
What’s got me interested finding out just how accurate the legends are. Obviously he has a broader agenda than just the romantic books since although we see him deliver part of Shiron’s book (romantic) we also see him accompany Enlike’s. Just what is he up to? And which girl will peek his fancy?
Anyway, I guess my only complaint is Mirepoc. I was hoping they’d be avoiding her romance when she erased her memory. We’ll see.
It seems, from the preview, that the next episode is going to be about Colio Tonies again…
So far, he has been by favourite character in this anime…
After watching this one thing struck me regarding Lascall Othello. Notably that the library’s previous director denied his existence and in a sense protected him, Hamy and Matt also seem to be aware of his existence. And the Church as well is on similar grounds as they expressly forbid trying to chase after Lascall Othello, who doesn’t seem to be a church member from the looks of it. So its definitely interesting to find out about this man that neither the Church nor Library intend to interfere with, as he is a seperate entity from them altogether.
The preview also showed a shot of Volken, Noloty fighting Enlike, and the monster zapping lightning. Maybe #14 will be a recap episode? Hope it won’t be.
