I was surprised how this episode started out as a very dark aftermath. It was very different from the previous episodes of this series, and a lot of time in the first half was dedicated to making Jin’s death sink in. I’m not used to that from Shoji Kawamori, especially when it happens so early in the series. Then the second half arrived. Yup, that’s him allright. No mistake about it. And Mari Okada’s influences make it even weirder.
The moment where the headmaster suddenly announced everyone to bury themselves, this show just got surreal. I’m not sure what kind of symbolism it is to have the cast sleep right next to the dead while they’re mourning for a falen friend, but it was glorious anyway. The way in which Mikage suddenly appeared as well was an awesome cliff-hanger.
Zessica by the way is heading into a wrong direction. She’s now at the point where her entire character is “I like Amano”. The rest of the cast here is great, and this episode used Mikono’s uselessness well, but Zessica is just the same old third wheel without any chance that you see everywhere.
Rating: ** (Excellent)
You really can’t remember the characters’ names or are you doing it on purpose? ^^;;
It would probably help if Amata was more… memorable…
Well, each season I blog 12 series. On average those all have 8 major characters. That means 96 names I have to remember. My memory isn’t that good. ^^;
Andy’s line on this episodes was awesome, what he said to Mix.
And overall, seeing Jin quoting the first opening’s lyrics and telling his true feelings to everyone was truly heartbreaking. Great episode, this Aquarion is much better than the original. Seriously.
This episode was truly weird. There is so much symbolism that is being thrown around, alot of it going over the top of my head :S I like the fact that they didn’t gloss over the fact that that attack did cause massive casualties, but still I’m left with the feeling of ‘what the fu@k just happened!@@’
‘this Aquarion is much better than the original’
I’ve just finished marathoning the original and I find it much better than this one, at least in the character department. But yeah, this episode was pretty amazing…
I want whatever Kawamori and Okada was having when they thought up this episode. This one of the most bizzare episode of anything ever.
Yeah, they seem strangely intent on destroying Zessica’s character, I don’t get how they can’t see the damage they’ve done.
And I’ve got to say, if the obvious is true and Kagura is Apollo and Mikono is Sylvie, then those two better end up together. If they try to throw a twist at us, they’re retroactively making the ending to the first series REALLY depressing, the whole point was they would be together in 12000 years.
I’d say it’s more likely that Apollo and Kagura are both Apollo. If Amata had nothing to do with Apollo then they made a huge mistake making him the main character, and also making him have the Solar Wings.
Although i said in an earlier entry that i still hope it’s just Kagura and he comes to the school , makes every girl his woman, then rides off into the sunset with Mikono.
I’ve noticed that 2, they’re ruining the whole point of the first series that they would be together again in 12000 years. I want them 2 finally b together, not try n break that cycle n have Mikono (Sylvie) end up with another guy whose not Kagura (Apollo)
The whole ‘my body is one with the earth’ and ‘I can hear the bugs’ scene was awfully reminiscent of Chikyuu Shoujou Arjuna when she has her epiphany… But then, that too is a Kawamori Shouji show…
It was strange enough to see clouds hanging over the city – I believe this was the first time in fourteen episodes there was anything other than brght sunny skies. I agree that Zessica just isn’t that interesting right now, but neither is Kagura. If Z is “I like Amano” then Kagura is “I like Mikono,” and little else besides Mikage’s mad dog.
While we liked how he suddenly showed up immediately after everyone just got over the harrowing ordeal of being buried alive (no rest for the reborn), we can’t see it turning out any differently from his last appearances: he’ll yell a lot, try to snatch Mikono, fail, and retreat.
Basically the first half is pure fail as far as character development is concerned, there’s still Zessica’s case though who went from epic to fail.
Is it really Kaguras fault that he didn’t get to be the main character? I mean if Kagura turns out to be Apollo i will be pissed and pleased at the same time. Pleased because i think Kagura is a way better character than the generic Amata , but pissed because they gave Amata so much screen time, which in turn lead us to barely seeing Kagura, and his development suffered because of it.
Amano? Allen? Van!
Thank god, it took 13 episodes in order to get something deeper than dumb highschool romance. Mikono is finally getting useful after being a burden for so long. Keep the pace.
