Short Synopsis: The English launch their attack once more, Akizuki also makes his move. At least, that’s their plan. π
Good: Amazing plot twists, awesome climax. π
Bad: As usual, Shouten-sama provides some nice background information, but again, I didn’t quite catch that.

Boy, that was awesome. There definitely were some twists in this that shouldn’t be missed at all, both for the English and for Akizuki. I really wonder what this anime has in store for us for its final episodes. In the first part of the episode, the Lord’s Head shows what kind of power it has towards others when the English try to take him out. Rook tries to kill him, but Enomoto just reflects his attacks, and starts playing with his mind. This makes you suspect that only people like Akizuki can really get rid of the Lord’s Head. The English retreat for now, as things aren’t looking good.
We then see a small aftermath, in which Akizuki agrees to let Kakunojou accompany him, and Rook starts to notice the effects of his encounter with Enomoto, as he keeps getting more and more doubts. The rest of the episode focuses on the English’s second attack, though both parties decided to handle things a bit bigger than with the first one. With the English, Kanna also participates in the attack, and they arrive in their own warship. Enomoto, meanwhile, called all his men to deck, while Soutetsu returned to the ship with Hijikata. Akizuki, meanwhile, also heads towards Enomoto, accompanied by Kakunojou.
And this is where the goodness begins. First of all, Rook dies! This can do some great things for the rest of his team, especially his sister. He has been so confused by Enomoto that he just rushed in, even though he knew that Enomoto could do the same to him again. This indeed happened, and he got stabbed by Enomoto’s henchmen. With this, the Englishmen have definitely turned interesting, as right now, their mission has started to get personal. I can imagine that at least some of them will want to take revenge of what happened to Rook.
The English and Kanna then decide to retreat. Akizuki, meanwhile, has had enough time to sneak up on Enomoto, starting the second part of the climax of the episode. Akizuki’s about to strike, though before he gets the chance, Kakunojou once again gets possessed by her sword. This time, Enomoto makes her cut Akizuki in the leg! Both of them were really great to see after that. ^^
The reasons for Kakunojou’s behaviour also were explained this episode, though as mentioned above, they were a bit vague to me. It has something to do with some kind of fog, though that’s all I could understand of it.]]>
Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto – 18
I’ve been meaning to give this series a try and from the screen shots it looks quite good. As for the plot twists I’ll be looking forward to it as its one of the best aspects to look for when watching any kind of entertainment ranging from anime to television serials
WOW!! That sounds amazing!! The 12 subbed ep just came out and I saw it. I wish more people were doing the subs for this series…unfortunately, it seems to be wishful thinking on my part π
Dang, hurry up with it already…I dont understand why this series isnt popular. Its so much better than some of the other anime!
Bakumatsu indeed is a hugely underrated series. I remember that nobody talked about it when it first aired. Right now, things have gotten a bit better, but this series still remains incredibly ignored.
Still, with the release of episode 13, people will probably start talking a bit more. That’s going to be the first major climax of the series. ^_^
I think she actually stabbed him in the back, you know… >.> (as in literally, not figuratively) If you watch closely the hole is stabbed in his cape (= his back).

Stabbed in the back?! Oh no!! Was Akitsuki badly injured? I hope not…he seems to be a better fighter than Kakunojou; I kinda expected he would just managed to dodge or something.
Also, can someone please clear this? Is the name Akitsuki or AkiDsuki? I see both versions, although I hear the D more than T when Im watching the subs. Or is it like the letter R which is actually pronounced as L? Like Rin is actually Lin? Thanks π
According to the official site, his name is “AkiDZuki”. I just like to call him Akizuki.
Being stabbed in the back also makes a bit more sense, yeah. I originally thought it was in the leg, as the animation seemed to suggest it. (At least, from what I remember while watching it). Also, Vivacioussky, when you see the episode, you’ll probably understand why he didn’t dodge. Most came from the element of surprise. Whether Akizuki is badly hurt, we don’t know yet. He fell off the ship as soon as he was hit. I’m suspecting that he’ll end up badly injured, though it isn’t time for him to die yet, being the main character and all. π
Regarding the problem of pronounciation, actually it’s because of two different romanizing systems. You see, his name is not really Akizuki in Japanese characters – as in it’s not γγγγ. It’s made up of “Aki” (η§ – γγ)γand “Tsuki” (ζ – γ€γ), and when the Tsuki is put after Aki, due to this thing called a dakuten rule it becomes “voiced” to become “γ₯γ”.
However, “γ₯γ” is a problem because while it is pronounced exactly like “zuki” by most Japanese, it is still written differntly from the normal “zuki” that is “γγ”. So to differentiate between the two, the Nihon-shiki (and closely related Kunrei-shiki) as well as Japanese IME typing systems call γ₯ either “du” or “dzu”. Hence, Akiduki (you see this on Japanese sites) or Akidzuki. Of course it is not pronoucned “du”, “du” is because of the phonetic arrangement. But “dzu” is a compromise between differentiating it from “γ” and retaining some of its pronounciation.
Since it’s pronoucned the same as “zu”, however, in Hepburn romanization it is simply left as “zu”, hence “Akizuki”.
I prefer using “Akizuki” because while it’s confusing to people who learn Japanese and think it’s spelt as γγγγ and not γγγ₯γ, it looks and sounds nicer than Akidzuki which could be mistakenly pronounced as “a-kid-zuki”.
