Level E – 06

Oh, this show is brilliant! This episode was again an awesome that continued the Color rangers story and turned into a full blown parody here. The characters though were the ones who made it awesome.

Two episodes in, and these characters are not only already developing, but this series is also really making use of it. The point in which they found themselves caught up in the traps that Ouji had set for them was just awesome, but also how Ouji forced them to say the names of the girls they liked was absolutely hilarious. I especially loved how thorough that password system was set for the blond-haired kid. and of course, the grin on Ouji’s face when he found those out was just priceless.

The irony is that Level E is a collection of short stories with no main plot, and yet it still blows every other show this season out of the water. This series however has made every second count, which is very rare for an anime. it’s consistently creative and tries out great and interesting ideas and the delivery also couldn’t be better. Especially the chemistry between just about all of the characters is just fantastic here.
Rating: *** (Awesome)

  1. Im a bit dissapointed as to where Level E is heading. It’s understandable why it took so long to get Level E animated.

Turns out Level E is pure comedy. A hillarious one!

I may be a bit dissapointed, but I can’t deny the fact that Level E is one of the best this season.

  2. I must admit, I watch for Kraft! He is the ultimate rabid abused puppy!

I’m really enjoying how the anime is treating the original manga material in a more modern light and making use of subtle changes that really add to the story in their own way. The kids passing by the baseball game, moving the Kraft encounter to an outside setting – it’s giving them more to work with and is wonderful! I can’t get over the attention this is getting!

  3. The combination of sci-fi, horror and comedy has never appealed to me, so I would have never given Level E a try if it wasn’t for psgels’ praises. I’m really glad I did! It’s hilarious!

And even though I’m really not into episodic series, this one manages to overcome that by using two or three episodes (instead of only one) to develop a short story.

I kind of miss the baseball player from the beginning of the series though, I thought his relationship with the Prince had serious comedic potential.

  4. @Sapphire: So I’m not the only one. x3 I was thinking the same thing when I watched this episode earlier. I loved their little banter back and forth.

But Craft MORE than makes up for it. ^^ That man’s hilarious…and maybe mentally unstable. Poor guy.

  5. This episode, along with the rest of Level E so far, just can’t seem to do anything wrong. Brilliance incarnate.

  6. I honestly thought Craft was going to go apeshit, but it turned out okay with what he did in the show.

Again, another crazy episode. Makes me think that the Prince wasn’t really trolling the kids. It was like him making those serious kids be kids and have fun.

Still, I can’t get over the yellow guy. He’s like a twenty-year old dude in a kid’s body.

  7. Heres hoping that the prince kidnaps all of the girls that they said they have crushes on and forces them to rescue them.

  8. @flensermite he is? how? I think that its brilliant, the humour and characters feel very original, fresh and well executed. It’s different to all the other shows airing atm

its only downside so far has been the fact that they havent used the baseball guy again

  9. Level E is pretty hilarious but I can’t in all good honesty say it’s the best show this season. It’s a personal opinion but good drama trumps good comedy every single time.

So I’d rank Madoka first and Zombie 2nd because they deliver on drama. (And Zombie adds comedy as well)

So I hope Level E starts going back to a main story instead of side-stories. While they’re funny too, it’s not as good as the main story.

  10. There’s a semi-serious arc after this one, but sorry to disappoint you, there is no “main story”. It’s basically just Prince Baka pulling pranks on everyone to cure his boredom.
