The Seamifinals of the Aniblog Tourney

Silly puns aside, we’ve reached the semi-finals. Yay!

Today’s opponent is without a doubt the strongest I’ve had to face so far. Heck, they already existed before I even knew what an anime blog was. As usual, you can find the link to the tourney here:

And also, don’t forget to check out Sea Slugs Anime Blog, if you haven’t already done so. 😉

  1. Once again you have my vote, Psgels. I’m hoping for you and Kurogane to face off in the finals, where you will still have my vote!

  2. They even made a mascotte for the sake of winning this contest. Like the hell i’m casting a vote for those who’d rather hook their fish using such fanservice than with real contents.
And of course i prefer contents, so you have my vote, Star Crossed!

On a side note, Sea Slug killed their friend and rival Tenka Seiha by a few votes. Therefore i have no more to worry about a direct battle between my fav blogs.

  3. Holy moe, look at the voting percentages. At time of writing this, its:
Sea Slugs! Anime Blog 33% (148 votes)
Star Crossed Anime Blog 67% (296 votes)

  4. @Solaris
Uh, I believe their mascot was there long before this tourney started, so your statement is wrong.
And I don’t think their site lacks contents either. It’s just, for a six-men team blog their contents still pales in comparison with psgels’ one-man blog. Well, got to fear psgel’s writing power, eh?
Btw, voted for him, of course! 🙂

  5. Psgels to take the cup! Just need to hold on to the lead.
I’m surprised this blog wasn’t the top seed going in o.O. Weird stuff.

  6. @Tanukichan. I checked it with a quick google search. It looks like Sea Slug mascotte Namako was indeed there for the whole time since years. Ok, i take it back and make my excuses.

  7. Yours is the only blog that really has any value, doing both brief episodic analysis and more in-depth looks into content and the industry as a whole, not just sticking to the latest Code Geass and providing large slide show and script to it and then a few dull thoughts at the end.

I also enjoy when you go on a little binge of obscurity or forgotten gems, so to see a bunch of those again will be nice 🙂

  8. It’s ironic, really; Star Crossed was the first blog I followed consistently…and now, my team and I are up against you. A little competition never hurts, though. ;D

@Denizen: I think that many episodic blogs give in-depth analysis. Halfadeckshort from our blog gave some nice analysis on Arakawa, and Zyl’s insight in Yojo-han was beyond exquisite. Tons of other episodics, like THAT, The Cart Driver, and Shinmaru give awesome reactions that go beyond “I like this episode” or “I don’t like this episode.” I also think you might be interested in editorials if you want focus in on general topics and how they are associated with certain types of anime. (2-D Teleidoscope is personally a favorite.) Hope this helps.

  9. I never knew there were so many followers of Star Crossed Anime Blog!
Okay I’ll follow this blog every week from now 🙂
Btw I voted for Sea Slugs because I’ve been following it since long!

  10. I am not so surprised, because the anime blogs that really deliver are Random Curiosity and Star Crossed Anime.
They are both subpar with their consistency (frequent updates) and reader-friendly reviews.

Enjoy the final on sunday Psgels (if Holland wins “Koninginnedag” will look like a Mc-Donalds birthday party).

  11. “I am not so surprised, because the anime blogs that really deliver are Random Curiosity and Star Crossed Anime.”

Yes, these are the only two, which I follow, too. 🙂 Votedfor Starcrossed of course. Even if I have to send Starcrossed or Random Curiousity to hell, it would be Random. 😉

  12. “They are both subpar with their consistency (frequent updates) and reader-friendly reviews.”

FYI “subpar” means below average, probably not what you had in mind.

  13. I must say, that even though I’ve followed this blog and SS for about 3 years, I’ve never commented on either site until now. Personally, I like SS writing style better, which is why I voted for them (I prefer episodic blogs that don’t take their subject matter seriously; THAT is another of my favorites). However, after I voted, I thought a little more about why I come to this site and decided that there are two things that set you apart from every other blog except Random Curiosity (which I’m surprised didn’t make it this far): 1) You’re very consistent and post every day, and 2) you watch pretty much everything, even if you don’t make a daily post.

Basically, even though I voted against you, it was a tough call for me and don’t stop doing what you’re currently doing. If I want some laughs, I visit THAT, RC, Bakaraptor, and SS. If I want an honest review or opinion with a lot of supporting evidence, I visit your site and no other.

  14. I’ve been following you longer, and you have Noein as one of your top pics… how can I not vote? I’m sad that RandomC didn’t make it though.

  15. GO VOTE NOW!
Hey Starcrossed supporters what are you slacking off for?
Sea slug is climbing up the hill quite damn good. It just erodeed 20% the gap.
    GO and DO jour job!

  16. Didn’t expect that, but semi-finals close today anyway and the gap is still too wide for Sea Slugs to catch up now. Psgels is sure to face off with Kurogane in the finals. Good luck btw

  17. Congrats on advancing to the final.
You alone have got quite as many votes as there were casted in the other semifinal as a whole. You’d have the numbers to win easily in the next match too, given defeated Sea Slug followers wouldn’t decide to play some trick to you and side with the enemy! Well i guess it’s time to do some advertising to defeated listless ink fans 😀 (incidentally listless ink make some pretty good post with reasoning like what star crossed fans aleady like so… i see some affinity there. ^^)
