True Tears – 06

Haha! This was most definitely the best episode of True Tears yet! Episode six may have been a bit too early for such a deep drama to already start, but at least this episode turned out excellent. It’s interesting how well te creators have managed to build up the atmosphere, in such a relative short time, considering that most series need at least thirteen episodes to achieve the same thing.

Noe’s brother got a pretty large role in the end. This episode, he ends up dating Hiromi, just to get her attention away from Shinichiro so that he can start dating Noe. I assume that he intends to break up with her as soon as Noe and Shinichiro are a true couple. It turns out that the reason why he’s so close with his sister is that they’ve spent almost all of their time together since their grandmother died (I couldn’t pick up what happened to their parents), and now he wants someone else to take care of Noe so that he can go his own ways. It was also pretty fun to see Noe steal Shinichiro’s belt. It must have been pretty tough for the guy to spend the rest of the day. 😛

Aiko also finally gets her much-needed development, and we finally know why she started dating Miyokichi in the first place. It seems that she already had a crush on Shinichiro for a long time, but never had the guts to confess to him. Then Miyokichi came around, and fell in love at first sight. He did have the guts to confess to her, and she ended up agreeing, just because Shinichiro encouraged her. With this episode, their relationship also starts to fall apart, when Aiko finally gives enough hints to Miyokichi to make him see that she still fancies Shinichiro.

The really important part of this episode was about Hiromi, though. Shinichiro overhears one of the bad discussions between his mother and Hiromi, and he picks up how Hiromi refers to something that happened in the past between the two. Obviously, he wants to find out about it, and goes after Hiromi. As it turns out, according to Shinichiro’s mother, Hiromi is Shinichiro’s half-sister. Their father committed adultery on Hiromi’s mother, indeed confirming what many people have already speculated. This is why Shinichiro’s mother hates Hiromi’s mother so much: she basically took away her loved one, and she still can’t forgive Hiromi for that, even if this is subconscious.

  1. Ok, things just got really weird. Why’d she have to be his half sister? That completely removes her from the picture as far as I’m concerned. I’d love to see them get closer as siblings but I hope the show will stop there cause I’m really not digging the whole incest thing.

  2. Matte: yeah, sorry about that. It seems to be a strange feature of blogsome that I can’t remove. 😛

And regarding the incest, well, I’ve read somewhere that a brother and sister can quite easily become attracted to each other if they don’t know about their relationship (because of their similar interests and stuff), so it’s at least a bit plausible.

  3. Yeah, I’m not saying it’s not plausible I just don’t want it to be. 🙂 But there’s still half the show to go so anything can happen from this point really. Incest or no True Tears is the show I’m looking forward to the most each week right now!

  4. I’m so sorry for spamming your entry like this, but my comment got eaten again. I think the I-word makes the spam filter go nuts. 😛 Feel free to remove these if you want to clean up the mess.

  5. So Jun doesn’t have feelings for Noe like that? It’s just “brotherly-love”? Dang, I wanted siscon, lawls. But isn’t this an “adult” anime, so then siscon is okay, right?

  6. Word of caution. Hiromi said Shinichiro’s mother said Hiromi MIGHT be, not is, daughter of Shinichiro’s Father. Anyway this series has past Da Capo level and is rapidly approaching Koi Kaze level. Stripey must be screaming with delight right now.

  7. Well, if we consider the past repeating itself, if Hiromi doesn’t confess her true feelings now, she mind end up doing just what her mom did, having an affair with Shinichirou when they’re older. The comment that Shin’s mom made about Hiromi looking like her mother in an earlier ep. makes me think that Hiromi’s mother herself harbored strong feelings for Shin’s dad for a very long time, but was unable to confess until it was too late.

If she is Shin’s sister, they have a lot of issues to work through. If not, well, they still got issues to work through. The important thing is for both of them to admit their feelings and decide what they need to do with them.

IMHO, they won’t workout in the long run. They just don’t give me that kind of vibe. At the moment, it’s more of Shin watching over his lil’ sis, wanting her to be happy. While Hiromi is using Shin as a support for her emotional baggage and insecurities.

  8. that’s weird? how could shin’s mother expect hiromi to forget, after telling her that her mother is a “whore”? i don’t think anyone that could. this made her a bit suspicious imo. maybe she was lying all along, a made-up story just to keep hiromi away from shin.

  9. I think that Hiromi might not be Shinichiro’s half-sister. When Hiromi told Shinichiro’s mother that she remembered the conversation they had that wimter night, Shinichiro’s mother looked shocked. Maybe she just told Hiromi that she is Shinichiro’s half sister in the spur of the moment.
