Claymore – 24

Ugh… the next episode will be horribly boring: Claire vs Priscilla. I’m looking forward to episode 26, though. That’s the one where Priscila has been defeated and Claire needs to be saved. That one does hold potential, and I’m curious as to how the creators will be planning to end this series (because at this point, I am not expecting a second season for this series). The current episode also wasn’t that bad: there was no fighting. It’s basically an aftermath, in which nearly every character gets an important bit of development. This aftermath would have been even better if the fights around it weren’t so dull, but I’m glad that at least this episode turned out good enough. Even Raki was enjoyable to watch. Claire also was okay, when compared to the previous episode. It’s logical for her to suppress her awakening as soon as she saw Priscilla. Priscilla, however, was the only one I didn’t like. Her awakening may be explained, but it felt a bit forced if you ask me.]]>

  1. In the next episode Claire awakens fully and together with Priscilla they take care of the rest of the claymores. I wish 🙂

  2. The anime is so bad right now its not even funny.
They decided to do the DBZ ending instead of following the manga. What a mess.

  3. Yep right now they should be showing the random seven year skip after the battle explaining how any of them survived and then going of and tricking riful again :P. Instead we get a horrible rushed ending with a random episode that involves no fighting whatsoever. I completely disagree with the review for this episode. How can you be happy about a filler as the third last episode? If the dumb anime writers are going to end it like this I would at least like a full 2 episodes to enjoy Clair’s fully awakened form!

  4. Magna: there are two simple reasons why I enjoyed this episode:
    1. I already knew that the creators were going to mess up the ending, so no surprise there.
    2. I hated the fight in the previous episode. I’d rather see characters develop without fighting and the horribly dull one we had to see in the previous episode.
Basically, I expected nothing, and got something better. 😉

  5. Same thing here.
Last episode was pure DBZ with dragged stupid fighting. Remember the entire DBZ episodes where the characters were basically exchanging and dodging punches and kicks (so fast you can’t even see them) and flying from top-left corner to bottom-right corner, top-right corner to bottom-left corner, or whatsoever.
But episode 24 was more character-driven and this is what a lot of people liked in Claymore. Cuz for an action-driven anime, it has solid characters and a very detailed setting. And episode 24 was in these roots, there’s no fighting at all and the characters get a little development, especially Priscilla (didn’t think it was “forced” at all, and quite enjoyed it, actually) and Raki, who finally gets kinda interesting (realising that he’s a good-for-nothing all-talks).
For the next two episodes, I’m actually expecting something good. After watching episode 23, I was absolutely sure that the ending will be totaly fucked. But episode 24 gave me some hope, and knowing what Madhouse is capable of, there’s possibility to wrap the business in a satisfying way.
Most of the time, I’m very pessimist (so basically, I’m never disappointed), but this time, get to know why, I’m expecting something…
    Wait and see.

  6. Guys.. and girls there will be a second season. Has it been officially announced there wouldnt? No.
Also, did it ever come across ur minds that the creators are just slightly twisting the anime, so as to get more character development and perhaps to spark more interests amongst viewers.
U can all take a big sigh of relief at ep 26 when it has to be continued. However, if i’m ever wrong *blasphemy talk fellas* u can put me out of ur merry christmas cards.
Oh btw the weather here is pretty cold, maybe i should invest in a thermal blanket

  7. Even if they make a second season, the entire thing is dead now. They haven’t “slightly twisted” it. It’s freaking dead. Read the manga and you can tell. I would make an analogy between Shakespeare and fanfics to show the difference between the anime and manga right now, but I’m not sure if that’s enough difference. (Mind you, I’m not comparing the manga to Shakespeare. It’s just that much better than the anime)

  8. You know, not being an authority figure on Manga, I find you all to be so woefully spoiled it’s crazyI It’s tantamount to movie goers getting pissed off because the storylines of comic book characters brought to life via movies don’t adhere to the storyline of the comics. How can you possibly cover every single nuance of said stories, manga or otherwise? The Claymore series has been one of the best I have ever seen in my life. I’m am a 39 yr old male that is intrigued with this show. Lighten up, won’t you. Please.

  9. Scrapple: I haven’t read the manga myself, but I still dislike the hanges that were made. The reason for this is simple: how are the creators going to properly close this story with so many threads left open? I want to see how the Dwellers of the Deep will be advancing. I want to see Alicia and Beth. But that seems to be impossible with only two episodes left.
To add to that, I personally really dislike shounen-clichés, and unfortunately Claymore seems to be heading for an ending that seems to contain every single one of them. Hence my frustrations.

  10. Geh, i dun really care if the anime isnt the same as the manga version…If ppl dont enjoy the anime, stop bothering others with yur replies of frustration and go back to reading yur manga novels ppl
Yu watch a anime cuz its not the same as manga…if it were the same it would be VERY boring.
    peace!

  11. Eh, think what you will. 😀 I might have said it in an inflammatory way, that wasn’t my intention. What I’m trying to stress is that the changes to the anime are all, well, really bad ideas. In this case, following the manga panel for panel would be alot better than what they’re trying to do. And, Imvery- I watch anime because the battle scenes are easier to follow, that’s the only difference to me. We seem to have different philosophies as far as that’s concerned.

  12. Guys, I agree with Helix King. I’ve been thinking for a while now, why they would make the anime diverge from the manga after being so faithful for approx 20+ episodes. One reason might be bad writing, but another is entirely different.
What if they were going to do a second season? If they followed the manga faithfully and it came out on time they would have to wait at least 1-2 years before they started production on the anime’s 2nd season. That’s because, from what I heard, the manga took a break and won’t start back up until November, when it will be released monthly (Someone plz confirm this). However if in the anime, they dragged out a certain portion arc of the manga, and had it end before the manga finished, they would have material to springboard into the 2nd season, and could quite possibly cut the time to start production in half.
Just an idea. However, none of that really matters if madhouse completely screws up the ending. I for one, however really liked episode 24, as it was a great improvement over the previous one, and I’m very hopeful about the season/series finally.

  13. ive never read the magna so i cant say which is better, but when i saw the first episode of claymore i was hooked. im not much for over analysing something i like. but ur annihilating it. believe me ive seen worse. and im a little upset that you would compare it to something like dbz. which quite frankly was a waste of air time. i mean why r u still watching it if its so bad???

  14. 2 to 1 odds that it doesn’t end here. As soon as something diverges from its manga counterpart though its always the first assumption. Its not like they had a choice. This was from volume 11 right? So I was able to pick that up the last week of July or was it the first of August? shrug. They would still have 2/3 of 11, 12, and 13 to start a second season with…which with the rate they were going is almost 1/3 of a season. I just watched the raw of 25, not like I could put a spoiler though because THERE ARE NONE. Progress made = about 120 feet literally. My opinion: since Isley has just spent 2 episodes simply standing there he is going to wisk certain people away. Claire gets saved same way which I think is pretty obvious at this point. They may add to it a lil. Then besides a single plot point we are pretty much in the same spot as the manga. I mean all they’ve done is really involve Raki a little bit more and besides that I really don’t see a huge difference.
Who said you watch an anime because its not the same as a manga? Ok manga people watch the anime because they liked the manga and wanted to watch it animated….and the rest haven’t seen the manga so…..Seriously that point maybe fits 1% of people. Yes now its time to go watch the extremely optimistic “sayonara zetsubou sensei”..which I enjoy so much because of his optimism…………Yes lord of the rings was a boring movie because it was too much like the books….they needed helicopters. Seriously there is a fine line between reality and fantasy find it please. Ranters ranting about ranters ranting about ranters = me ftl!
