This show. This show is crazy. It’s completely out of its mind!
I mean, we knew that this show was over the top beyond belief. However, with this episode we see Jonathan Joestar’s grandson. And this guy is even manlier than his grandfather. His entrances in this episode were just nind-blowing beyond belief. I mean, there is doing the unexpected, and there is pulling a Joseph Joestar.
Just about every fight scene in which Joseph got himself involved in screamed awesome. They all just took being cool to the absolute ridiculous in their own ways: first by using such a silly thing as a coke bottle as a weapon, then by predicting his opponents moves so well that it gets scary, and then just pulling a freaking tomgun from out of nowhere without warning. I mean, this is awesome. Why did nobody make a full fledged series of this before?
But then again, it’s also David Production’s work on this that just makes this extra special. I mean christ: they came with a completely new soundtrack for the second part of this series. It’s completely different and composed by a completely different person. This time it’s done by Taku Iwasaki. And you know what? This is perfect. This is how you produce a series like this, and this is a cue that Madhouse really should have taken with their adaptation of Hunter X Hunter: make the first arc awesome to watch while you build up for the second arc. Make a soundtrack that fits the first arc perfectly and one that fits the second arc perfectly, rather than making a soundtrack for the second arc and using the leftovers for the first arc.

I absolutely adored this new soundtrack. The first one was great, but this one just perfectly captures the feel of the series. It’s big and full of unnecessary energy through and through.
Also, Joseph has the most fabulous anger management issues I’ve ever seen.
I’ve got to say, the way the first and the second tie into one another is fantastic, and something that I haven’t felt for a while when watching a series. I was actually mad at Straits for betraying the Joestar family. It’s been years since I’ve felt that kind of emotional connection to characters, and we only saw him for a couple episodes before this. It shows that david production really knows what it’s doing (not that it wasn’t obvious since episode one).
Seriously this show is crazy and I love it!!! Joseph beating that guy up for not softening the blow of speedwagon’s death was just priceless. Can’t wait for the next episode!
No mention of young Joseph’s completely insane way of dealing with plane hijackers? They also slightly changed that scene for the anime. In the manga, he’s reading Superman, but in this he’s reading Baoh, which is one of the short works Araki did before starting JJBA.
This episode was all-around amazing.

One minor thing though – it was the first episode that I wished for a slower pace. it was a little bit hard to follow after the events. I don’t believe I’m saying this after watching all those horrible shounen shows with a pace so slow you can die but still too fast is too fast. damn me and my perfectionism because I love this show!!
Sugita’s work as Joseph is superb. I was afraid his JoJo would sound too Gintoki but I’m glad that’s not the case.

we have so many shows this season. Gintoki seiyuu is perfect for new jojo.
Eh, we told you that Part 2 was much better than Part 1 :). But seriously, Joseph is probably the best shounen hero ever. I rank the couple final fights in this part among the very best I have ever read.
And yes, kudos to the production studio as well… this really shows how to do a low-budget shounen right.
Now, getting to the preview… Our german science is SEKAI NO ICHIIIII!!!! Damn, I can’t wait for Stroheim…
Joseph is possibly one of the craziest heroes i saw in a while (if not ever), everything he does is just so unexpected and over-the-top … he is a bag full of crazy surprises (the highlight was really the Tommy-gun .. where was he hiding that !!? .. and did he realize he was shooting in the direction of the people inside the cafe !!!) .. loved it also to see his granny has some guts when she told him it’s ok to beat up that mafia guy with the metal knuckles for being racist to smokey XD
This is just anime at its zany and over-the-top best. It’s something you can just unwind to and enjoy how ridiculous it is. What makes me laugh is how he is fearful of his grandmother even though we all know he could just wipe her out with just a flick.
The ending of the episode made me laugh. Here I’m thinking he’s about to Ripple the bastard and instead pulls a tommy gun out of his jacket pocket.
This isn’t just any adventure. In an over-the-top, cheesy Speedwagon voice ‘THIS IS JOJO’S BIZARRE ADVENTURE!’
