Kaze no Shoujo Emily – 07

The episode specifically focuses on stopping John to cut down the forest, and for Emily and John to make up again. John is quite the interesting character, and he never really was evil, it seems. He just doesn’t know how to control his anger, especially towards Elizabeth. After the things she said to him in the previous episode, he just had to retort somehow. And the only thing he could think of was cutting down the forest that belonged to him, even though this hurts Emily and Jimmy more than Elizabeth. In fact, through the course of the episode, John keeps hoping for Emily to return to her. Emily, however, doesn’t know this, and is very busy with thinking up a plan to stop John somehow. It’s interesting how she doesn’t confront him directly, but goes to the local priest instead. This definitely shows how naive she still is, but then again, I wouldn’t suspect anything different from a poetic girl of her age. Overall, this was more one of those heart-warming episodes than the exciting ones. Still, I found myself really liking it. I’m looking forward to the next episode, by the way, as something tells me that it’ll be the turn for either Perry, Teddy or Ilse to get fleshed out a bit. Kaze no Shoujo Emily definitely is the most underrated series of this season.]]>

  1. Yup, it’s underrated. So very underrated. Anyway I loved this ep, even though nothing really happened. From what I saw in the preview, I thought the next ep was gonna be about Emily’s mother, but I think I’ll like it better if it focuses on one of Emily’s friends rather than Emily’s mother. The first book of the Emily series actually focuses almost exclusively on Emily, with the other characters being a lot more in the background, so I’m curious as how they will handle that in the anime without making up too many plot twists…
I keep asking for subs. Hope someone will hear my prayers ^^

  2. my sis knows Japanese and she says she’d sub it if she knew how to put subtitles XD. but anyway, i agree with you. Someone needs to sub this!
its interesting that about the book focusing on Emily. i actually think the emily-centric eps are my faves, but it would be good to see the other characters fleshed out as well.

  3. Ginnie: interesting. Has she tried to visit with some fansub groups who are interested in subbing? I mean, there’s got to be a few people here that know how to time. Heh, if I had a bit more free time at the moment, I could figure this out myself as well.
It’s interesting to see how this anime decided to focus. If I had to guess, then the first thirteen episodes will be about Emily, while the other characters will be fleshed out in the later half of the anime.

  4. (yes… Emily is soo underrated.. sigh… it’s a GREAT show. more people should learn how to appreciate it T__T)
    anyways…
I really like this episode, and how it showed that John’s anger isn’t really that deeply rooted for him to lose sight of what’s right (and what he loves 🙂 ). Emily’s decision to consult Father Cassidy might be naive, but having her meet him is a great encounter in my opinion, and I can see him being another ‘pillar of support’ for Emily in the coming episodes… 🙂
I’m looking forward to the next episode, and how it’s going to unveil the past of Emily’s mom’s, as well as Elizabeth’s ^^ (I actually wonder how they’re going to make the transition of focus to the other characters, like in what coming ‘events’ are they going to introduce them…)

  5. It may be naive, but I could imagine that I as a kid would have done about the same thing, if placed in a similar situation. For some kids, it’s natural to seek the help of grown ups because they don’t think they’ll be able to accomplish a task for themselves (the prime example would be children who get bullied, running towards their mother for protection).

  6. And Emily also thought that she was the one who caused John’s anger (and made him reach that decision of wanting to cut down the forest), so it was but natural for her to be afraid of dealing with him personally 🙂

  7. i dont think Emily was afraid to talk to john, but rather thought that he wouldnt listen to her, given hes so proud and all that. psgels: nope, she has never tried. ill try to persuade her hehe… cuz it’d be great that she could sub emily ^____^ i only know whats happening cuz she watches the eps with me and tells me what happens… and cuz i read usagijen’s great summaries ^______^! and there are probably many people who want to see emily but cant cuz there are no subs for the series. i think thats partly the reason its getting so little atention.
